I have been attending public recitals at Curtis for most of my life, which are free to the public.
First, the quality of the student body has been consistently without a peer. The facilities are world class, and the student performances are beyond mere categorization. Transcendental is not a good enough word.
Second, the faculty and staff are in this for life. The employees live and breathe the institution, and for good reason—they are part of something extraordinary.
I give to Curtis because they offer me the world's best classical music without charge. In turn, the Institute is a fastidious steward of my philanthropy. They care about their donors, and make you feel part of the organization. I have witnessed few non-profits that have the class and personal approach that Curtis employs in donor relations.
Finally, for a school that admits students based on merit, and charges no tuition, I feel that, on balance, this is a good place to make philanthropic gifts. I am honored to be part of the Curtis family and will continue to give for as long as I can. I would encourage others to follow suit if they too believe in the future of classically trained musicians who continue to fill the ranks of the best orchestras in the world.
