Mission: Naae is a member of the kennedy center alliance for arts education network, and promotes arts education as essential for all nevada citizens from cradle to grave. The nevada alliance for arts education is committed to: advocating for arts education programs for all; sharing information, ideas, and resources among people dedicated to arts education; promoting innovative collaborations among artists, individuals, cultural and educational organizations and institutions; and recognizing notable achievements by individuals and organizations in arts education.
Programs: Naae assisted the nevada arts council with the statewide poetry out loud competition, in which one nevada student competed at the national competition in washington dc in april of 2012. The statewide competition took place in reno, nevada in march of 2012, and included scholarship awards to three students and their high schools totally 1700 for students and 2000 for the high schools. Students from 14 of the 17 counties in the state participated.
naae brought the combat paper project to northern nevada in april 2012 at the lake mansion in reno for a three-day workshop that included veterans, gold-star mothers, blue-star mothers and interested artists. Twenty local residents participated throughout the weekend in making paper from used combat uniforms. In july of 2012, naae collaborated with the david j. Drakulich memorial art foundation to bring combat paper to the armory at the nevada national guard in carson city, another 20 local residents participated.
naae oversees the scholastic young writers awards in 13 of nevada's 17 counties. Over 50 entries were part of this competition that produces a number of gold key, silver key and honorable mention awards. The gold key award winners were sent on to the national competition in new york, which produced a national voices and vision award winner from northern nevada.
4. Continued to update and maintain the statewide non-profit arts and cultural calendar website www. Arts4nevada. Org used by over 150 non-profit arts organizations in the state to promote events, calls for artists, fundraisers, etc.
