Mission: The mission of Crossroads for Women is to provide comprehensive, integrated services to empower women emerging from incarceration to achieve safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives in the community, for themselves and their children.
Target demographics: empower New Mexico women emerging from incarceration
Direct beneficiaries per year: 181 women and 67 children
Geographic areas served: New Mexico
Programs: We provide housing and trauma-responsive therapeutic services with a gender-specific approach for women across seven domains: housing, mental health, recovery, physical health/dental, independent living, vocational, and family/parenting. Our specialized model is based on acknowledging the primary importance of relationships in the lives of women, and addressing the challenges of their pasts, presents, and futures. Women exiting incarceration are housed in one of our two transitional housing programs: Maya’s Place in Albuquerque and The Pavilions in Los Lunas. We also offer permanent supportive housing to homeless women with co-occurring disorders through the Bernalillo County Community Connections Housing Program. Recovery is a lifelong journey. Our Peer-on-Peer Support Services (P.O.P.S.S.) program creates a continued support system for women who graduate from a Crossroads for Women housing program.
