CrisisdogsNC is the epitome of a true life saver for so many furry little ones in need. Their dedication is a true testament to what it means to give it all you have and then some. Their commitment to ensuring all rescues are in the best hands. Everyone is always available and willing to step in to help and save lives! It has been such and honor to be part of seeing all the daily miracles they accomplish. My family is a testament of the labor of love this organization represents! I started as a volunteer and became a proud foster parent to one of their rescues. They are simply the BEST!! We love our Sadie girl!!
This organization works non-stop to help North Carolina's canine population. Being married to a volunteer, I get a glimpse into how quickly they mobilize to help animals in need and the lengths they go to making sure they find good homes. Our own furry companion came to us thru CrisisDogsNC and now we repay that by helping others find their furry best friend.
I volunteer for travel needs when I can. The extraordinary care and effort of this team to rescue, foster, and support for adoption is incredible.
When we saw Maverick I knew I had to have him. We went through the process application the interview it was all very smooth. We were given information about him as much as they could give us. Once we were approved we set a date to pick him up. They made arrangements foe us to meet his foster mom and it was a great experience. Everyone we had spoken to was very nice and helpful.
In April 2020 we lost our Chihuahua of 17 years. It took us almost 2 years to decide to get another dog. We ended up with a Belgian Malinois from Crisis Dogs.
I retired in October 2023. Since then I’ve been transporting for Crisis Dogs NC with an accumulation of approximately 40K miles to date. Rescuing dogs from hoarding situations, owner surrenders & shelters. But not limited to transporting from Foster to Foster, Foster to vet and best of all from Foster to furever home!
I tell people I am working my way to heaven, one dog at a time. As I wait for my next phone call from Jamie to see where I go next.
I came along this year to help my foster puppy get a rescue through crisis dogs NC. They've been nothing short of supportive and caring for their dogs and volunteers. Happy to be a part of the team.
Crisisdogs is an outstanding rescue. I have adopted three dogs from them. Received excellent support throughout the process.
I recently fostered the sweetest dog (who has found his forever home) and also adopted a dog from Crisis Dogs NC. Fantastic group of people working so very hard to help dogs in need. I am in love with my new family member and will certainly foster again in the future. Wonderful rescue and highly recommended.
Such a wonderful experience from beginning to end! Everyone was so helpful and caring make sure to ask all the right questions to ensure Sarabi was going to not only a loving home but a perfectly matched one as well. We are so happy with out sweet girl
Wonderful group that is dedicated to helping as many dogs as possible. They work tirelessly to find every dog a soft place to land.
Crisis Dogs NC has impressed me immensely with how well run they are. They are an army of volunteers that step up and pull together time after time to help so many dogs in need and I’m so proud to volunteer my time with helping my mom foster dogs for the last year.
Wonderful experience with this rescue. The people put a ton of time, effort, and energy into ensuring the dogs are given the best care possible and find them the best forever home. I would highly encourage anyone looking to adopt or foster to check them out. A great rescue with a great mission and doing excellent work!
Fantastic rescue that takes the quality time, attention and care with their dogs, their adopters, their volunteers, and community partners. Just wonderful people doing wonderful things! Highly recommend this non-profit to adopt from, to collaborate with, or to volunteer for. It's an amazing group of people!
Crisis Dogs NC is amazing! This all-volunteer rescue group is highly responsive, uber-professional, compassionate, and incredibly well-organized. It's tough work with many, many moving parts (intervening directly with dogs at risk, finding and maintaining foster homes, managing inquiries, screening potential adopters, completing contracts, transferring pups far and wide)... far more complex than I ever could have imagined. I'm grateful for their whole team -- they embody a Great Nonprofit!
I had the pleasure of coming across CrisisDogsNC when they pulled a dog from a local shelter, saving it from euthanasia. A few months later, they desperately needed someone to foster a dog in the Raleigh area and I was fortunate enough to have the space to take in Debbie (an eventaul foster fail) and start volunteering with this organization.
My role has evolved into various things in my short time here, but I foster and help with social media. This team of volunteers are so kind and willing to help. We have so many dogs that are in rescue that have been through a lot of trauma, and the kindness of the people caring for them is unmatched. The team at CrisisDogsNC has the biggest hearts and desire to make a difference in the lives of these dogs.
I am proud to be part of this organization!
The volunteers were all a pleasure to talk with, from our interviewer, the foster parent, medical coordinator, and especially the volunteers who helped us with transport. They flew my dog from Hickory, to Raleigh, saving us hours on the road. All of the volunteers are passionate about saving dogs!
I love this organization. They were so well organized, reached out regarding a dog I was interested and I was almost immediately hooked up with an interview to make sure the dog would be safe and that we were a good match. The dog foster was incredible, obviously very loving and committed to the dogs. So grateful for the dog I adopted, perfect dog for me!
I just love this rescue! I can’t say enough wonderful things about Crisis Dogs NC. They are all so kind and quick to respond. They truly want what’s best for each animal. I can’t thank them enough for my sweet baby, Maizi!
I have been volunteering as a foster with CrisisDog NC for the last year and half and they are the most well-run and committed group of people. The organization is constantly challenging itself with fundraising efforts to be able to take in more dogs that are desperately in need of rescue. Volunteers come together to transport these dogs all over NC and surrounding states to fosters without thought. I’m so proud to be a part of it all and I only wish I could take more fosters at a time to help make more of a difference.
Wonderful organization focused on saving as many dogs as possible. Truly a group that is focused and determined to make a difference. I work with many different organizations and Crisis Dogs NC is by far one of the best to work with.
When our dog had passed I was searching the web for a new companion when I ran across CrisisdogsNC. I had never heard of them but when I read about their dedication to helping dogs that had special needs I decided to see if we could help.
I looked deeply into their available dogs and came across these two sisters who were four and had been raised tied outside. The two clung to each other since they were the only comfort they had known. Crisis was trying to place them together because of this. We had only been looking for one dog but the story was so impelling we looked further.
The people with Crisis couldn't have been better to deal with. They were quick to respond. Professional with their dealings and knowledgeable of pets' needs. Even the person fostering the two was involved with their well being and wanted to help anyway they could.
We drove two hours to meet the dogs and we're just so moved by their state we adopted them on the spot. We knew it was going to be a big job, but we knew the support would be there and there was. Through the transition period Crisis was always there to help. Whether a simple question or a health concern.
It's been a year since we welcomed Cinnamon and Lucy into our home and could not be happier. The task was not easy, but with the ongoing help from Crisis they are close to being fully adapted. Loud noises still affect them and they are leary of strangers, but are getting better. One day, hopefully, they will totally forget what they were put through.
To think these two loving creatures were so mistreated is beyond our belief. We salute CrisisdogsNC for the work they do. They dedicate themselves to saving the most difficult of cases. Every one has a story and that is one of salvation. Thank you Crisis for the work you do.
Such a compassionate, competent, well-run organization! No situation too dire, no challenge too big- every dog is given a chance to heal, experience love, and become a treasured family member in a well-chosen forever home. ❤️
I am a Foster for crisis dogs my passion for animals is definitely why I help and the people that help the animals. Animals have no voice so we have to be there voice as a team we can do a lot I fostered plenty of pregnant dogs and puppies sickly babies and they greatest reward is to see them find there forever home
I have worked with crisisdogsnc over many years where I have sent them dogs from our shelter here in Sc and they never said No. Fast forward to this year 2024 , I was invited to help them and I couldn’t refuse because I know how dedicated they are to saving as many dogs as they can!
The only thing I can say is if you want to foster for a wonderful rescue please sign up, or with any rescue in your area. . It’s rewarding and needed to save precious lives!
I was volunteering at our community shelter and became aware of the amazing work being done by CrisisDogs NC. So I started to do volunteer driving and became a regular donor. And that has lead to more support. Great organization!
I have had the pleasure to be part of such a fantastic rescue organization. I have fostered many dogs that they have rescued from unthinkable circumstances. Through my experience foster dogs, they consistently showed support to me with any questions and concerns I had. Really there for me with one quick phone call. Each pupper I fostered went on to a furever loving home and we still keep in touch with those familes!! Its a great organization moving mountains for our furr babies in need.
The people who run this rescue have a true heart for animals, and unlike so many other Raleigh NC area rescues, there is no “Ego” involved…these people truly DO put the DOGS FIRST. It’s been wonderful fostering with CD, and transporting with them for the last 3-4 years. This rescue pulls and saves the saddest of broken dogs, and the Director Judith never ever gives up. They are definitely so deserving of funding and recognition!

Crisisdogs NC it’s a wonderful group of volunteers that work together to try to save as many animals as possible
I can say from experience that this group is ON IT when they see a dog in need, volunteers are coordinated quickly and great care is given to each dog in need.
I have supported CrisisDogsNC for several years. Ever since I found out what great work they do saving dogs and finding qualified homes for them. Success stories posted continuously. A dedicated and hardworking volunteer group doing all it can to end misery and death and bring life and living to so many animals.
CrisisDogsNC is a very dedicated, caring rescue. I have volunteered with several nonprofits for many years now and Crisis DogsNC is by far the BEST I have volunteered for. This nonprofit goes well above and beyond to rescue and find homes for needy pups. The dogs are given excellent veterinary care and training which is based on the dog’s needs. Also, the dogs are placed in loving foster homes with volunteer families that will provide care, comfort and training. The ultimate goal is adoption into a home tailored for the dog. CrisisDogsNC is a very organized nonprofit that works exceptionally hard. The director and volunteers spend countless hours in fundraising, rescuing, advertising, transporting, and training, etc., to reach a goal-to provide care and loving homes for dogs.
CrisisdogsNC nonprofit Is the greates. I’m a disabled senior now 71 bilateral amputee. I have a companion dog foster from CrisisdogsNC. I have had my baby girl. Her name is Palmer. She’s an eight year old Staffordshire terrier pitbull mix. I’ve had her since July 2021 after I lost a 14-year-old Minnpin who was my companion after my wife and daughter passed four years ago. I recently lost my left leg and was in rehab in the hospital for over seven months a volunteer by the name of Lee took care of my baby, acclimated her to other dogs and loved her for seven months as her own. crisisdogsNC retrieved Palmer from my home after the paramedics called them after finding the number on their Id-tag., Palmer was put into a kennel, but because of her issues and anxiety she was picked up by Lee the volunteer and taken to her home to be acquainted with her new roommates three male dogs. Lee brought her to see me once a week and that kept me alive and kept me going. Palmer is my reason for living along with being able to help care for Palmer. I know if it wasn’t for Judith, Faye and the rest of the volunteers at CrisisDogsNC I wouldn’t of been able to survive. God bless them all for what they do Wayne and Miss Palmer
No one cares more for the discarded, lost and helpless dogs then these wonderful caring people. I adopted my little dog Lucky from them and he is the sweetest dog. How someone could abandon him is beyond me.
This extraordinary all-volunteer team saves over 500 dogs each year through their tireless devotion and deep experience of how to help all kinds of dogs in desperate need. They never fail to go above and beyond in this endless effort. As a donor, I know their work is so valuable. I hope you will join me and donate what you can as often as you can. And yes, I am honored to have two of their senior rescue dogs.
They are committed to helping as many dogs as possible. They have a great group of leaders for the fosters and adopters. They communicate well and definitely have the best interest of the animals at the forefront. We have adopted from them as well as fostered.
As a veterinarian- it is hard to find a rescue that can step in quickly when you need it. Crisis Dogs helped me saved a sweet girl in need and get her to a loving home. Recently, I was able to try and return the favor and foster a pup. It was the most rewarding experience to give an animal a safe place while finding their forever family.
CrisisDogsNC is so special and I can’t wait to continue to work with with this amazing rescue!
Crisis Dogs does an amazing job matching people to their perfect dogs. They truly vet each applicant to ensure the dog is going to the best possible home! They go out of their way to help save the lives of these dogs and offer so much support to the adopters as well as the foster families.
I have been fostering with CrisisDogsNC for 6 months and it has been such a rewarding and supportive experience! They match you with dogs that fit your lifestyle and supply you with all the dog needs including support for me and any questions I have! There is a great foster support network as well where I can interact with all fosters and share supplies if needed.
CrisisDogs really goes out of their way to live up to their name in saving and finding forever homes for dogs in dire need or who no one else will take. It’s been so rewarding to work with them!!
I have fostered so many but still feel like I did not do enough always have a whole team behind you, you never alone and all those pups and dogs are special looking for a forever home. They all went thru some bad experience and some last there owner because it was the owners time to leave but still they are being left behind confused and lonely. And then the ones not wanted anymore or just left out without knowing how to feed them silly I thanks Crisis because it would be worse with all the pups being put done
CrisisDogsNC does amazing work and has saved countless lives in their statewide effort to get dogs out of shelters and into foster and/or adoptive homes. The organization is composed 100% volunteers who selflessly donate their time, energy and money to help North Carolina dogs. I highly recommend adopting a dog from them or if you are able, to volunteer or foster to help them get even more dogs out of the shelters!
Best rescue to adopt and foster for! They offer great support to their volunteers and adopter. They ago above and beyond for dogs in their care

I have volunteered with many organizations and Crisisdogs NC has by far been one of the best organizations. They care deeply about all the animals in their care. They will go above and beyond for any animal in need. As a foster they give us all the support and resources we need.
Sophie was my first foster through this group. The team was amazing, from coming into our home, setting up vet appointments to finding a wonderful adopter. They made everything easy so we could concentrate on Sophie and getting her ready for adoption. I'm proud to part of this organization and look forward to having more fosters in the future.
My husband and I have transported rescued dogs for CrisisDogsNC since 2016, either by car or plane. This organization works diligently to place each dog in a loving forever home. As post-adoption coordinator, I enjoy following up with each adopter to ensure their rescued dog and family are adapting well. The fosters we have met through the years are truly amazing! Many of the dogs have completely shut down due to trauma, but their foster creates a safe haven for them to thrive until the right adopter arrives.
Please open your heart and home to a rescued dog, volunteer and/or become a donor.
Cindy and Ken
So necessary to have local rescue groups and volunteers to make a difference down on the ground in their community shelters
CrisisdogsNC has a tremendous network of volunteers that work endless hours to save as many dogs as possible.
The staff at CrisisdogsNC does everything possible to ensure all of their dogs have seen a vet, are healthy, vaccinated, spay/neutered, Heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention prior to adopting their dogs into a new home.

We first sdopted from CrisisdogsNC in 2021. We found the experience to be professional and satisfying. In 2022 we were not looking for another dog, but we saw that CrisisdogsNC had a unique situation where they were trying to save a dog unwanted by anyone else at risk of being euthanized. After conversations with those involved we decided we could provide a good home to this dog. We are so glad we did, because our little Leo boy has turned into a joy for us. I highly recommend adopting, donating to, or fostering a dog from Crisisdogsnc. They have a very good screening process to ensure dogs are being placed in good safe homes, and they often help over crowded shelters saving dogs that might be a little older, have minor medical needs, or need a good bath and grooming to see the true dog beauty that often get overlooked by prospective shelter adopters and put dogs at risk of euthanasia.
I adopted our crazy loving dog from here! Everyone was fantastic and couldn't of asked for more support.
I am a volunteer with Crisisdogsnc. These people by far are the most compassionate individuals I have ever known. The longer I'm here, the more I come to love the rescue and its mission. While other organizations may balk at elderly or very sick dogs, Crisisdogsnc sees the value of each life and takes these types of cases into the organization. We frequently take in the unwanted of the unwanted. Sick dogs, elderly dogs, and dogs that are discriminated against due to breed labeling. The volunteers work tirelessly to care for animals that have often been neglected, abandoned, or abused, and prepare them for their fur-ever homes. They bring in these dogs in such rough shape and vet them, clean them up, get them well, (many needing surgery or expensive medications) provide training, and get them ready for their new homes. They have a wonderful group of fosters that help make this all possible by providing a place for these dogs to decompress and feel love, may for the first time. Crisisdogsnc provides their fosters with supplies, medicines, food - everything they need. After adoption, Crisisdogsnc also provides lifelong support with advice and an expansive network of dog lovers. It is a great organization doing exceptional work. I am truly honored to be a part of this team.
As a person, who at this time in my life cannot own a dog and cannot foster a dog, I am very happy to support the incredible work of Crisisdogsnc . I have had a first hand look at the time and concern volunteers put into saving good dogs, and placing them in loving home or with loving fosters until the forever home is found. I don't donate my money without knowing the rescue's record of successful placements and Crisisdogsnc has an impressive record. I'm proud to be a supporter.
As a volunteer with CrisisDogsNC, I know I’m also served every day. Served by our common mission, By the community we’ve become and by helping to create something bigger than ourselves. And above all, by coming together to do the seemingly impossible every day -and succeeding. One of the greatest gifts I've received as a volunteer for CrisisDogs is their NOT-ON-MY-WATCH attitude.
I recently spoke with a new volunteer from out of state and I asked her why she chose to volunteer for CrisisDogs and she shared with me what I've learned is a common story: her friend had found a stray dog and they could not find a rescue who would take the little girl. She wasn't a particularly cute dog, but she had her winning ways. They called everywhere, even out of state. Every rescue was on overload and the shelters were in worse conditions. But they couldn't keep the dog for much longer. Then someone told them about CrisisDogs. With a huge dose of extra effort, CrisisDogs took the little dog in and now she's happily in her forever home.
Another big benefit of volunteering with CrisisDogs? We get in on all the great stories!
I’m happy to say Thank You to all the generous donors, volunteers, adopters and the inspiring leadership team of CrisisDogsN who show the world every day, Good Dogs Deserve Good People Deserve Good Dogs….(spread the word)

I met CrisisDogs by responding to a beautiful dog they had posted on RescueMe. I was too late to adopt that dog, but I was so impressed with the people, the care and attention I received from CrisisDogs that I became a regular donor. Within a few months, two senior Pomeranians needed immediate help. They were ages 10-plus and 15-plus and pretty sick when they were tossed into the Shelter where CrisisDogs saved them. I hadn't thought about adopting a senior dog -much less two - but with the help and guidance of the CrisisDogsNC team, I was confident these two gals were a perfect match for me and my terrier rescue little girl. Thanks to CrisisDogsNC' s expert Foster Moms who loved them and managed all their care for weeks, the veterinarians who brought them back to health and the astounding team at PilotsNPaws who flew them home to me, my two Pomeranians are now all healthy and happy. Thank you Crisis DogsNC. This is a love story worth celebrating! I did not know Senior Dogs could be so much fun.
Every dog deserves a loving forever home. CrisisDogsNC ensures all their rescued dogs receive vet care before going to fantastic fosters and are placed with the best adopters.
Everyone I have met through CrisisDogsNC truly cares about saving dogs in need, no matter what the circumstances. Please consider transporting, fostering and adopting a precious pup.
I have adopted four dogs over the past five years. These adorable children ranged from three to ten years in age, and 35 to 100 pounds in weight. I am proud and happy to work with and donate to a passionate organization that saves animals from abuse and carefully finds them happy, safe homes.
I’m a transporter. I used to foster until we foster failed too many times. I transport dogs in need of rescue, and have transported for several rescues over the years. 95% of my transports are for CrisisDogs now. I don’t even know where to begin, there have been so many heart warming stories born of heartbreak. CrisisDogsNC takes the sick, the abused, the unwanted dogs that have no where else to turn. It’s a fantastic group of people who care so deeply about rescuing the hard to rescue. I’m adding photos of Luke. He was abused and neglected. He needed more help than most rescues want to take on. Emasciated, neglected and near death, CrisisDogs took him in and found him the loving home that every dog deserves! I have personally transported dozens of dogs just like Luke, dogs with no where else to turn. Dogs down to their last minutes. Dogs who finally, finally get to know what it feels like to be loved. Dogs who get to live the life every dog should live, despite the life they had to endure before CrisisDogsNC found them. I could post a coffee table book of before and after pictures, but just look at Luke and you can see the power of the love that CrisisDogsNC shows to rescue dogs every day.
Over the past 6 years I have worked with a variety of rescues. CrisisDogsNC is the best! I am amazed at the level of support provided by the administration and the volunteers that work with CrisisDogsNC. Each and every animal that is accepted by this rescue is given quality vet care no matter what the cost. Picture is of Lia a current foster who would have died either from starvation or been euthanized without the necessary care from this organization. Thank you CrisisDogsNC for her life.
My husband and I had a great experience with CrisisDogsNC. Within just a few days, they matched us with a sweet dog named Raven who is perfect for our family. Raven's foster parents took wonderful care of her and remain available to answer our questions. CrisisDogsNC's adoption fee was affordable and their staff are kind, helpful, and accessible. We highly recommend working with this organization.
This is a wonderful organization that matches people and future pets together for their “happily ever after..”
We recently adopted a rescue dog from CrisisDogsNC, and the whole process was very well organized, quick and very thorough. Their No 1 criteria is to make sure that the family adopting the dog is really going to be the perfect and lifelong match for all parties concerned.
We were very impressed with the care, professionalism and support from all,of the volunteers with whom we communicated. A great organization and wonderful volunteers.
Today Ruger and I started leash behavior. I must say he surprised me on how well he did. He sits(mostly) when I stop and will heal on my left side when I start. I think it may take a few months for it to be second nature. Then we’ll start some more lease routines.
He is my best friend and with my history of some cancer he is my therapy dog. He knows when I am having a not having a great day.
For whoever passed him by at the kennel will never know what they passed up, but I got him.
Thank you guys so much.
Connie I hope Lea still is enjoying her bed.
With thanks,
Ruger and Dick
