Crime Victims Treatment Center Inc

This is one of the many “non-profits” listed by OVS as a source to help crime victims. The list is largely false and getting help from any of the sources listed has proved to be impossible. Non-profits like CVTC are created as a business for people who know the system to collect government funds and pay themselves salaries while helping no one.
I am a victim of a violent crime and I contacted the CVTC for legal help and counseling but received neither. When I contacted the legal department I was told by a young woman, who has the voice of a 5 year old, that “We don’t have the capacity to help you because we are handling immigration cases.” I contacted their main office and was told that their legal department must help all violent crime victims who seek help. I the received a contact from their attorney who I shall call Y. Y begrudgingly agreed to be my legal advocate but then, with all of my serious injuries and being distraught over what happened to me, I was left chasing after her with repeated phone messages and emails because she was doing nothing.
I contacted the office manager again at which time Y made calls that she should have made a month earlier, but by this time I had been forced to make those miserable calls myself because what’s the point of someone pretending to advocate for you when they are actually not advocating at all and are just causing you more harm.
I also wanted counseling services and received a call from another young girl who gave a big speel about how they may not have capacity to offer me counseling and since I had insurance I could get counseling through that insurance. I was then asked who I would be willing to work with for counseling, a licensed therapist, a social worker, or a student intern? I was very clear about the fact that I would definitely not be willing to work with a student intern. I was brutally assaulted and I was not going to be a guinea pig for some student. Guess who contacted me to start counseling? That’s right, a student intern. I declined. As a matter of fact I gave up on CVTC all together because they caused me so much additional stress and anxiety when I am already suffering.
After all of the horrid experiences with CVTC I contacted their executive director (initials CM) who couldn’t be bothered acknowledging.
This agency should lose their funding because they are nothing but a scam.
