I came to Create five years ago for the summer camp and loved it. I came back several times, and now I take weekly art classes here. I have greatly improved my technique, and I feel like I learn something new every time I come here. My teacher Heena has been a great help, and she clearly is very educated and skilled in the field.
I have been going to Create for seven years. it is a wonderful place to be. Everyone there is really into the work they are doing and it is a great environment. The teachers have a lot they share with us and every median we work with is a lot of fun. We learn technique and practice these skills.
At create arts i learned a lot. When I took the drawing class i learned about shading and a lot about proportion. In the painting class im taking now im learning about what makes a good composition and about mixing colors. And the teachers are really nice. They're very supportive and will always help you if you need it.
Taking classes at create has not only helped me become better at my art but better at understanding others.During class we not only learn new things about art but also learn about each other no matter what age we are.I enjoyed taking something that wasn't all that interesting and making it interesting by using different angles and perspectives.I think that create was really a great experience.
My experience with create has been really fun. When I come I have fun and learn different art techniques. I like that every one is really friendly and every one is an amazing artist from cartoonists to painters to sculptors.
The experience I'm having are great. I really like the projects that we do and all the people are fun. In Create Arts I get to express myself in a visual way that is comfortable for me to do. I feel that Create Art is a great place.
My daughter has taken classes at CREATE for six years. The classes have been well-suited to her interests at different age levels and she now really enjoys a class for preteen and teen girls. It has a great balance between working on art technique at higher levels and a relaxed atmosphere that allows the girls to talk while they work, which she really likes. As a board member, I really appreciate CREATE's outreach programs, especially the smARTkids program for at risk youth. We get great feedback from the school where we offer this program -- just recently one of a student's regular teachers expressed amazement that the student was actually talking and participating in the art class. She said "he never talks in class."
It is great to have a place like Create Art Center in my community as a local artist. I am able to make use of the kiln that the center has to fire my pottery as I don't have a kiln of my own. Whenever I go there I see so much art created by the children in the area, that I am amazed at the abundant talent and also how the center handles the needs of so many children who blossom in a center like this. Art is fun, but it is also medicine for the spirit, (the act of creating) so the center offers health and art!
I really value CREATE's approach to the art experience for children. It has just enoough structure but still allows for considerable freedom of expression, so that a child can learn to express themselves through art without having to stay within the lines. My daughter has participated in a couple of projects including creating a mask as well as a decorative plate, and she enjoyed herself both times.
I live in the nearby neighborhood (Takoma Park)of Create Arts and really enjoy the availablity of the teachers and the classes of arts that kids can enjoy. They also have a great room for adults who gather to indulge in their artistic endeavors in the evenings. Just a fantastic place to congregate and create. It doesn't just cater to one area of art but accommodates everyone.
I love CREATE Arts Center! We have the greatest time in the different art classes. The projects are so "out of the box" and so creative. And it is wonderful to see the children's faces when they bring home their projects! The teachers really relate to the children and teach them how to create art from their imagination instead of "paint by numbers". Thank you for all you do to promote the arts to our community.
I am the organizer of a visual arts meetup in the DC metro area and we had been experiencing a lot of difficulty in finding a "home" for our group. The first place we'd chosen (a cafe) had brought in loud karyoke and Guitar Hero during the middle of our meetups. Although my group is a "social drawing/painting group" and we love to eat, drink, and draw, when we were first introduced to CREATE Arts! in Silver Spring, the non-profit arts center was ideal for us. It was quiet, well-maintained, staffed personally by their Executive Director, Tamar, in a nice location, etc. While there was a small studio fee to attend, we took a poll of our members and decided that it was absolutely worth using their space as our "home" space. We feel we'd much rather contribute to CREATE Arts! fabulous programming for children and the arts than to buy yet another cup of overpriced latte and contribute to our own already oversized waistlines!
Tamar has been extremely generous to support couple of Art Groups and the staff at CREATE is extremely friendly. Thank You Tamar for giving us space to do some amazing art work!!
I am an intern at CREATE Art. My experiences with them had been awesome so far. The staff are so enthusiasms and fun to be around. The workshops/classes that they been having are very unique and its allows a lot of independent and individual creativity, which I like. Plus, there are always some new ideas that I get from the classes and internship time for my own personal art projects.
My daughter attends summer camp at CREATE! and adores it. I am also impressed with the work that she brings home - thoughtful, unique and fun. The staff really works to provide an experience that is truly artful, in all ways.
Pure Fun! Our daughter adores Create Art and it has been part of her life since we moved to the area 10 years ago. She feels so at home there becasue she IS made to feel at home. Her artisitc skills have imporved greatly and we can see her self-confidence soar every time she returns from a class or camp program.
CREATE is a wonderful place, full of dedicated staff and volunteers. The minute you walk in, you are surrounded by fantastic artwork, which shows the range of creativity encouraged here, from ceramics to paper mache to painting and drawing. From my experience as a board member and occasional teacher, I know that the Exec. Director and managing Director are completely dedicated to helping each student find the joy of expression through art.
Both of my kids have gone to CREATE Arts Center for years, it's within walking distance of our home. They loved the classes, out-of-school days, and camps. The projects that they undertook were very interesting and creative, and the kids enjoyed themselves alot. My son is now into sports, but my 7th grade daughter continues to come every Thursday for an innovative "Beyond Creativity" class tailored for 'tweens. The teacher, Heena Genti (Managing Director of CREATE) is very skilled and has introduced the kids to all kinds of interesting techniques--paper mache, sculpture, drawing in charcoal, pastels, water colors, and collage. The art gets better and better. And my daughter has many friends there, both staff and other kids. CREATE offers a warm, friendly and creative environment. When I stop by, I want to roll up my sleeves and start doing art. There is a small of paste and paint in the air, and all kinds of materials that suggest creative efforts.
My daughter has been attending classes and camps at CREATE for years. She has learned so much--they really work on technique. At the same time, it is a warm and nurturing environment. I am so impressed with the staff--who really nurture creativity. I also am impressed with all of the programs--such as smARTkids for at risk youth and studio downstairs. The organization has taken smart moves to grow. I also like the homey feel of the place--I feel like I've stepped back into an arts center from my childhood in suburban Boston in the 1970s! CREATE also works with local independent schools to have camps during school vacations which are not necessarily the same as the public school vacations. This is another example of how CREATE responds to needs in the community.
