Long term acute care hospital (ltach) serves the needs of patients with medically complex conditions - especially those suffering from multisystem complications and needing extended recovery times. Conditions appropriate for an ltach include tracheotomy, ventilator dependent cardiac/cardiovascular conditions, renal disease, oncology and wound care. Typically lengths of stay will average 25 days or longer. Cchkm serves the cleveland county healthcare system. They obtained a license to operate an acute care hospital on 7/11/1966 and became certified as a long term acute care hospital on 1/1/2010. For fiscal year ended june 30, 2017, cckms total patients admitted were 187 and the total number of patient care days provided were 5,101. The average daily census was 14 patients and the average lengths of stay of the discharged patients exceeded 26 days. Carolinas cch at university opened in october of 2015 as a 28-bed long term acute care hospital (ltach) and became certified as a longterm acute care hospital on july 1, 2016. For fiscal year ended june 30, 2017, carolinas cch at university admitted 143 patients and total patient care days provided were 3,473. The average daily census was 10 patients and the average length of stay of the discharged patients was 26 days.
