I am a volunteer at Courageous Connections, and also the parent of a child who has benefitted from its services. As a volunteer, who for several months worked directly with the horses and participants during equine encounters, I’ve personally witnessed the healing and magic that happens when a person battling cancer or a nonverbal autistic child or a troubled teen steps into the arena with the therapy horses.
When an injury made it impossible to keep working with the horses, I felt so strongly about Courageous Connections’ mission that I stayed on as a volunteer but on their social media team. Courageous Connections is an amazing organization that our community is lucky to have.
As one of the co-founders, board members, and instructors, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the transformative power of our equine programs, and it’s truly remarkable. The bond that forms between participants and horses is nothing short of magical. These majestic animals have an innate ability to sense emotions, creating a safe space for clients to explore their feelings and confront challenges such as depression and emotional regulation.
Throughout the program, I’ve observed clients making significant strides not only in their emotional well-being but also in building healthier relationships. Working with horses fosters trust, empathy, and communication, which translate beautifully into personal connections.
The team behind the program is exceptional, providing guidance that empowers clients on their healing journey. In summary, Courageous Connections offers a unique and effective approach for anyone seeking to overcome obstacles and build a brighter, healthier future.
Courageous Connections has offered me the opportunity to learn more about the healing power of horses and outdoor experiences. We are so lucky to see those who are able to better understand their feeling and/or behaviors allowing them to make positive changes in their lives. It has provided me greater insights into those who are on the spectrum, have ADHD, have experience trauma and life-threatening illness. It is a truly a gift to witness the magic.
