Causes: Environment, Forest Conservation
Mission: To promote programs and activities which will enhance forest resource management, forest products utilization, forest health and protection, and contribute to the welfare of the people in the western states.
Programs: The council of western state foresters provided executive leadership support to ensure the sustainability and health of western forests in meeting todays needs and those of future generations. The cwsf participated in, coordinated and staffed the western forestry leadership coalition and its work. The cwsf serves 32 state and federal agency leaders, numerous state, federal and non profit partners via 2 meetings each year with over 70 attendees and over 7 smaller, issue-focused meetings such as the pacific island forestry committee and the western fire managers committee meetings. The cwsf leadership meets monthly and combined with the in-person meetings we address forest management issues of mutual concern and facilitate interagency dialogue, (continued on schedule o) (continued from page 2) planning and problem solving, track west-wide accomplishments and develop materials, research policy needs and building relationships.
