Mission: As put forth in its mission statement, the council of american jewish museums works to strengthen jewish museums as essential resources and vital centers of culture, knowledge, and discourse. To fulfill its mission, the council provides robust programs, professional development opportunities, and opportunities for dialog about issues in the field and related fields. As stated in its vision statement, the organization envisions communities made more vibrant and inclusive by their jewish museums.
Programs: In march 2017, the council of american jewish museums held its national conference, "transcending boundaries: redefining the museum experience" in massachusetts with 300 colleagues and the public in attendance. Sessions were held at temple israel of boston, the yiddish book center, and the museum of fine arts boston.
