My wife's relative participated in the Council for Educational Travel's "Work and Travel Program". The young man is from Argentina and he was placed in Massachusetts. He was told he'd be met at the airport; nobody was there. When he finally tracked them down, he was sent to a run-down dump with water leaking in from the ceilings. It was inhabited by 10 people, all either in this program or Latin American immigrants. He was sent to work in a Burger King in Hyannis, MA. He was told he would work as a cashier to have contact with clients but was only allowed to wash dishes and make hamburgers. His first week he worked 34 hours; they paid him for 21. The company representing CET in Buenos Aires, "Network Consultores Educativos" sold him a radically different work-cultural experience. He wrote an email to the agenda in Buenos Aires; they ignored him. This organization should be investigated and shut down.
