Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, “has been pumping out artists” for 100 years and will celebrate its Centennial November 14 th, 2014. This is a wonderful school for students aspiring to become practicing artists. I first became aware of Cornish around 1979 when my 14 year old sister would go there to play with a college Chamber Music Group. I became more familar with the school and the quality of the student work when my daughter transferred into their Dance Department in 2011. I guess you might say that what I saw at this school inspired me and I began to volunteer as the parent of a student. I recently joined the Board of Trustees and am truly excited about where the school is headed in its next 100 years. In addition to Music, Dance, Art, Design, Theater, and Theater Production, there is a lot being offered at this urban, Non-Profit institution, especially for those interested in interdisciplinary opportunities to create art. Check it out, you may be surprised at what you find. Ric Spengler, proud parent of a Cornish Grad.
