Mission: To implement and communicate fair, accurate, and credible radiative energy performance rating systems for roof surfaces. To support research into energy related radiative properties of roofing surfaces, including durability of those properties. To provide education and objective support to parties interested in understanding and comparing various roofing options.
Programs: To develop a comprehensive roofing system for cool roof products that will consider reflectivity, emissivity, durability, soiling, and weathering due to climate conditions. The core of crrc is its product rating program through which roofing product manufacturers can label their products with solar reflectance and thermal emittance values measured by crrc accredited independent testing laboratories.
in 2011, the crrc developed and implemented a new program, called evaluation services cool roof rating council (es-crrc), which serves as a certification body for energy star qualified roofing products program. As such, es-crrc program reviews and certifies products that meet the energy start protocol, including meeting minimum energy star solar reflectance requirements and epa specified test methods.
