Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Community & Neighborhood Development, Crime & Law, Dispute Resolution & Mediation, Economic Development

Mission: Conflict resolution center (crc) is a community-based, non-profit organization formed in 1981 and elected nonprofit status in 1983. Its mission is to bring people together to find lasting and effective solutions to conflict. Crc is a primary resource for creating opportunity from conflict, and where repairing harm is valued over punishment.

Programs: Crc brings people together to find lasting and effective solutions to conflict. Crc services are based on the core belief that individuals of all ages and backgrounds are capable of resolving their own disputes. Crc serves those for whom traditional services have not worked in the past because they did not address underlying issues or were not culturally appropriate. The mediation process is built on self-determined decision-making which respects the rights of all involved. Crc's community mediation program provides conflict resolution services in neighborhoods, in schools, between family members, landlords and tenants, and victims and offenders. In addition, we mediate business cases and facilitate conflict resolution sessions for larger groups. Crc also provides volunteer mediators on a weekly basis in hennepin county housing and harassment courts and for children in need of protection or services cases. Crc also provides training in multiple areas including: mediation, conflict resolution, communication skills, leadership development, anger management, etc. Crc's newest service is a conflict consulting program which offers individual parties the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a trained consultant in order to build skills and come up with a work plan to address the conflict. Crc served 5,487 people through conflict resolution services and training. Crc added a new mediation program for children in need of protection or services for the fourth district court, a new conflcit consulting program and a new mediation clinic at the university of minnesota school of law.

Rating: 1

The Conflict Resolution Center in Minneapolis, is a joke. Not even worth rating. Very unprofessional office staff.

The two mediators they assigned were very different in skill level, which was OK because the more skilled mediator was dominate. One mediator would get a 4.5 rating, the other would maybe get a 1. We had no issues with the mediators per se.

There are many options for mediation. My experience with CRC is, DO NOT waste your
money on the Minneapolis CRC. Go elsewhere for mediation services.
