Mission: ExplorationWorks, a museum of science and culture, invites all people to active experiences that inspire inquiry, increase understanding and stimulate the desire for lifelong learning.
Results: ExplorationWorks opened the doors of this beautiful, LEED-certified building, on November 1, 2007. Preceded by five years of visioning, planning, fundraising, community involvement, and providing Museum Without Walls programming in science, culture, and nature.
Target demographics: Helena area residents and Montanans of all ages.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 19,500: 1,000 member families (averaging 4,000 people), 4,000 field trip students from Helena and Montana, 5,000 visitors attending special and community events at the Museum.; 500 summer camp and after school class attendees; museum visitors who are not members: 5,000
Programs: Permanent, changing, and traveling exhibits that are interactive and teach various concepts through interactive inquiry. Classes and camps, both at the Museum and around the community; examples include creative robotics, principles of flight, biology and conservation in the garden, music, art and dance...and much more!
