Causes: Public Transportation Systems
Mission: The Community Volunteer Transportation Company (CVTC) was incorporated as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization in 2008. CVTC was created as a grassroots effort to meet the growing unmet transportation needs in the region. To achieve our vision of Transportation for Everyone, our mission is: To optimize health, well-being, and independence, we coordinate transportation options for people throughout the Monadnock Region.
Target demographics: Community Volunteer Transportation Company (CVTC) addresses the unmet transportation and health access needs in the rural Monadnock Region of southwestern New Hampshire.
Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2020, 71 Volunteer Drivers served 234 riders from 34 towns in the Monadnock Region (see map of towns). The drivers logged in 69,918 miles and donated 3,474 hours of their time.
Geographic areas served: 34 towns within the Monadnock Region of southwestern New Hampshire
Programs: CVTC's Volunteer Driver Program coordinates "no-fee" transportation to provide access to essential health and human services to enhance a rider’s ability to obtain, or maintain health, well-ness, and independence. CVTC’s Volunteer Drivers operate in all of Cheshire County and 11 towns in western Hillsborough County. Individuals qualify for rides if they do not have access to transportation due to age, ability, economic situation or other limiting circumstances. Eligible trips include health access: non-emergency medical and social service appointments; food access: grocery store, farmers’ market, and food bank; and personal needs: pharmacy, bank and post office.
