Mission: Local residents most in need of legal counsel often are those without the means to pay for it. Consider the minimum wage worker, counting every nickel to make ends meet but facing eviction due to an abrupt rent increase or illegal eviction. Or a mother of three, lacking English skills and legal status, forced to choose between living with an abusive husband and seeking employment as an undocumented worker to support her children. Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto is proud to serve as a bridge among the various communities that make the mid-Peninsula such a rich and vibrant place. Working with 1,200 low-income clients per year in cases involving immigration, housing, predatory-lending, consumer and other vital legal areas, the free clinic breaks down socioeconomic barriers to justice for low-income people.
