Mission: Community Human Services Corporation seeks to enhance people’s lives and strengthen communities by providing opportunities to develop individual potential and by delivering comprehensive services that maximize the health and well-being of those it serves in South Oakland and the greater Pittsburgh area.
Results: CHS enhances lives by strengthening communities. To do this we offer free health care and social programming, parental education, low cost nutritional meals, rental assistance, housing assistance, and most importantly hope and friendship for those facing economically, emotionally, and physically challenging times. The communities we serve each year include: 1,000 people facing homelessness 500 Residents in Oakland 100 Youth 200 Seniors 100 People with Mental Illness 100 People with Physical Disabilities

Programs: Homeless services - provides outreach services to homeless and marginally-housed to address health, housing, mental health, and substance abuse issues. Provides financial assistance and case management services to homeless families and individuals to establish permanent housing. Provides housing assistance and case management services to single woman with children for up to 12 months in transition from homelessness to permanent housing.
mental health residential - provides family-oriented, homelike supportive living arrangements for elderly and chronic mentally ill consumers throughout the community. Provides housing and other supports to homeless and near-homeless chronically mentally ill adults.
health and in home services - provides primary health care to poor adults and children in the city of pittsburgh. Provides non-medical homemaking services to adults ages 18-59 with physical and/or mental disabilities. Provides outreach nursing to people in homeless shelters.
family support programs - provides in-home child development and familysupport services for families residing in the hill district section ofthe city of pittsburgh with children 0-5 years of age. Providescomprehensive child development services focusing on family pride, wellbeing, and increasing self-sufficiency for families residing in thehill district section of the city of pittsburgh with children 0-3 yearsof age. Provides assessments for children age 0-3 to determinesupports needed to ensure appropriate child development. Aims toenhance self-sufficiency for working poor families, enhancing economicstability and family life through loans and financial counseling. Homeless shelter / rehabilitation - provides safe, affordable, and supportive housing for 259 adults, including 32 emergency shelter beds. Community services - organizes activities that promote community support and development. Provides community organizing, transportation, informal activities, crafts, and space for these activities as well as other community events in the south oakland community of the city of pittsburgh. Children and youth - provide assistance to needy youths within the pittsburgh area
