I'm looking for some help. I've been living in Youngstown Ohio for going on 5 yrs out of the 5 yrs I had a place for a yr. Then got evicted when COVID 19 came and been homeless now for about 3 yrs. Even in the winter. I'm looking to see if I can get some help. I do go stay at a motel time and time again when I can afford it. It's just been hell getting into another place even with me working because I don't have money for application fee. And then get deined because of poor credit. I can't even get money saved up because of using it for my motel or for food. I'm just wanted a place to call home as to where I don't need to worry about where I'm going to lay my head next. We been out in the winter living in a tent and going to work was hard to do when you don't have the energy to go. plus you so exhausted from walking all night just to find a safe place to sleep or you stay up all night because you don't know where your going . Thanks much for help. Nature Slagle 4402812137
I volunteered to participate with the United Way in the fall of 2017 for the first time along with other members of my organization. I found my experience to be extremely positive . United Way partnered with Youngstown City Elementary Schools to conduct the vision screening needed. The task was easy, and it allowed students to receive eye exams. This resulted in doctors coming into the schools and conduct exams to those who needed them, and provided FREE glasses to everyone who needed them. Those students were tracked, and it was found that those who received glasses saw GREAT improvements in their test scores, attendance, and behavior.
Poverty is not a secret in this community, and United Way has committed to fighting the struggles our community faces to ensure others live better.
Please, consider being a part of United Ways "army"! WE LIVE UNITED.
I truly valued and appreciated the opportunity to volunteer at my home town school. Count me in next year.
