As a member of the board of directors I listen to the needs of the local not for profit organizations, and they are all worthy of grants. The community chest has provided over $300,000 to these not for profits for the past several years. Some programs simply would not exist without the support of the community chest.

I was very impressed when I learned of what the Chest does, and how it went about providing grants to local not for profit groups serving the Port Washington NY community. It's motto of "The people of Port helping the people of Port" just struck me as the type of organization I should support.

I moved to port Washington in1985 and started volunteering with my neighbor with the door to door campaign . Which then turn into helping at the phone-A-thon and thanksgiving race. And now I am a board member and enjoy raising money for this non profit oraganiation which helps so many people and other organizations in our community. My favorite event us the thanksgiving race watching so many people from port and other places gather to be with family's and friends to either walking or run. So please support the community chest of port Washington!
