Mission: The purpose of this corporation is to provide resources and services for the basic needs of life to those in need, including, but not limited to clothing, food, utility assistance, and counseling through a cooperative effort of people and organizations in the community.
Programs: The bread basket provides a food pantry which is open to individuals and families in the community every friday. Our food pantry is run by volunteers from several local congregations under the direction of the program administrator. We have dedicated volunteers who faithfully come to fill and distribute food orders. The food pantry is stocked through the support of our churches and local businesses. Bulk supplies are purchased from the mountaineer food bank. 2,569 families were assisted during 2017 in addition to several local low-income housing facilities and other food assistance organizations.
our utility assistance program provides payments to the utility company or landlord for families with eviction or termination notices - 80 families were assisted in 2017.
the gabriel project provides needed baby clothing and items (diapers, cribs, car seats, etc) to families in need. In the gabriel room, a staff volunteer helps select the necessary items to nourish the child. Often our gabriel room receives gifts from our donors of diapers, clothes (boys/girls 0-7), clothing accessories, baby food, blankets, and stuffed animals - 28 families were assisted during 2017.
Women in their office claim to be Christians, however these misandrists influenced someone to destroy a family and not consider forgiveness, a basic tenet of Christianity. Director exploits abused children to benefit her own image. Toxic work environment with narcissists more concerned about saying they help than actually helping. Arbitrarily deny assistance to some in need based on preformed opinions instead of facts about people's situations.
