communications cadca and johnson & johnson partner to expand reach of over the counter medicine safety programjohnson & johnson and cadca partnered in 2017 to spread awareness of the messages of medicine safety and to expand the use of the over the counter medicine program (otc) in schools. The expansion of the otc program was geared specifically to 5th and 6th graders and it involved coaching local coalition leaders and youth leaders on the curriculum as well as incorporating resources and best practices that were available on the website to reiterate medicine safety messages. As part of the resources developed, a best practices tip sheet was shared with coalition leaders and series of five animated videos were developed to serve as a companion piece to the otc medicine safety program. Cadca's geographic health equity alliance (ghea) increases capacity and effectiveness of coalitions cadca finished its fourth successful year of its five-year cooperative agreement, cdc's consortium of national networks to impact populations experiencing tobacco related and cancer health disparities. The goal of cadca's five-year geographic health equity alliance (ghea) initiative is to support states, communities, and other partners working to address geographic health disparities related to tobacco use and cancer prevention and control. In 2017, ghea initiatives focused on building the capacity and effectiveness of coalitions and local and state public health programs across the nation focused on tobacco and cancer. Ghea trained entities on leveraging partnerships and building community capacity to address public health issues and created resources and fact sheets for partners to aid them in efforts to address geographic health disparities associated with tobacco use and cancer prevention control.
