Mission: Community Action Network(CAN) partners with children, youth and families from under-resourced Washtenaw County neighborhoods to create better futures for themselves and to improve the communities in which they live. CAN’s programs are coordinated in partnership with individuals, families and communities. CAN services enable families to meet basic needs, and create better futures. For children and youth, CAN prepares them to become healthy, well-adjusted, self-sufficient adults. CAN’s After School Programs provide academic support and enrichment, personal growth and life skills, supportive adults and employment preparation. CAN's Educational Summer Camps prevent summer loss of learning and inquiry-based curricula. CAN is an advocate for its families in the AAPS and strives to strengthen the parent/school relationships. CAN students’ high school graduation rate is 97%.
Results: 97% of CAN's students graduate from high school (compared to 67% of their economic peers) (AAPS 2016).
