Nonprofit Overview
Mission: Established in 1994, CISPA currently encompasses five local CIS affiliates in 97 program sites serving over 15,185 students throughout Pennsylvania. CISPA Local Affiliates Include: Laurel Highlands, Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh-Allegheny County and Southwest Pennsylvania. At the state and local level Communities in Schools brings together community resources such as mentoring programs, county and state drug and alcohol education programs, local businesses, parenting groups, and health care providers. The resources and people that CIS connects with the school are often already in the community. But are they in the right place? They’re usually outside the school building…across town…open only during business (and school) hours. Communities In Schools is the connector, bringing a team of caring adults right into the school building to help kids prepare for life.
