I started working at COMHAR 11/19/07 coming up to my 15th year, it was my first time working at a nonprofit org, and I learned quickly how everyone was here for the mission of taking care of our community in so many different ways
I give a 4 star because as we all know nothing is perfect, yet COmHAR is an imperfect org that works perfectly for our community
My name is Cary G. and I attend the Opendoor Clubhouse. The Clubhouse has helped me by keeping me busy and helps me to find employment. Now I have something to do with my life and I am more sociable.
Comhar, to me, has made a big difference in my life. From the time I was young, Comhar, has helped my family when we were in crisis. When there came a time, when I got older, I was in need of someone to help me get help for my mother. They were able to assist me in getting treatment for her. In later years, I was in need of services for myself. After years of volunteering, I decided I needed a change. I attended the Open Door Clubhouse. I've been a member since 2015. It's actually been amazing. The staff members are so supportive. I signed up for the clerical department. I answered phones, I did reach out to members. I took part in activities. I also, was in the employment club where I learned how to be a good employee and learned what employers were looking for. After some time, I applied for an employment position and was hired for the job. With the help of staff, I was able to learn the job. It gave me confidence. The members at the clubhouse are friendly as well. If ever you need help with trying something new, members offer to help you. I would recommend this program to anyone who would like to learn, hands on, real skills, that can help you obtain employment. And if that's not something you're not ready for, well, that's okay. You can feel good about yourself, knowing that you are learning something valuable, and that you also are being a help to the Clubhouse; and ultimately you become a better you!!!
I am a member of the Open Door Clubhouse at COMHAR. I have been attending the Clubhouse for the past 9 years. The Clubhouse gives me support. It helps me to develop skills. I put the newsletter together. I send letters to Social Security to report the wages of members so they keep their benefits. I work in the Clerical and Employment units. I would recommend the Clubhouse to other people to help them to make friends and develop skills.
My name is Eugene.R and I attend the Open Door clubhouse. I love the clubhouse because it gave me a sense of purpose to come and learn math and reading. It also gave me a opportunity to help other clubhouse members. Now I have a job working in the clerical department and next year i am hoping to go to college
I am a member of the Open Door Clubhouse. I like the people at the Clubhouse. I like the lunches and the different jobs they taught me. I like to vacuum and mob the floors. It helps me to stay busy and to make new friends. I would recommend the Clubhouse to other people. It is a good place to get help and support.
I enjoy coming to the Clubhouse and meeting my friends and learning about janitorial skills. The Open door Clubhouse has helped me build my confidence with working at the front desk.
As a Team Member at COMHAR for 3+ years, I continue to be amazed and proud of the range of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability services that the agency provides to 5,500 individuals per month.
In spite of an unprecedented pandemic, it's the passion and skill that makes COMHAR such a special place
COMHAR Inc. has been and still is a great company to work for because it is a people first organization. This is not only COMHAR Inc.'s mission statement, but it is a statement that is lived and implemented everyday. So great appreciation and thanks goes out to the founders and funders of COMHAR Inc. for their dedication to making this a better world for the underprivileged and mentally challenged individuals that they service on a daily basis.
I have volunteered at Comhar now for about 13 years. Comhar is located in the heart of Philadelphia's Kensington section, unfortunately where mental illness, homelessness and drugs are running ramped. Comhar provides people stability to their lives, by providing them the tools and techniques to cope with life's many challenges, including housing, guidance, treatment and job opportunities.
