Causes: Arts & Culture, Singing & Choral Groups
Mission: The columbia pro cantare, ltd seeks to provide the finest choral literature in concerts of high artistic quality to a growning regional audience. It also aspires to provide enriching musical experiences for both performers and the audience.
Programs: October 22, 2016, jim rouse theatre in columbia md, fanfare to dreams and visions, a gala celebration of pcps 40th anniversary under the direction of frances dawson. Works included vivaldis gloria, haydns missa brevis, purcells sonata in d, handels let the bright seraphim. Guest artists, hc chamber orchestra,, and highlighted orchestra members brought music to life. Hc chamber chorus performed hymn to the eternal flame. Mrs dawson was presented with a hc proclamation recognizing the chorus contribution to the cultural life of the community over the past 40 yrs. Dr barbara renton presented the pre-concert lecture.
december4, 2016 handels messiah cpc, amy van roekel, soprano, maryann mccormick, mezzo, charles reid, tenor, lester lynch, bsritone, festival orchestra and henry lowe, positiv organ presented a beautiful concert. Dr barbara renton preceded the concert.
march 19, 2017, first evangelical lutheran church, ellicott city, music masters of eastern europe featuring cpc, the chamber singers, laura whittenberger, soprano, robert mcginness, baritone, jacqueline pollauf, harp, and donald fries, organ. Program included dvoraks biblical songs and songs my mother taught me, works by zielinski, liszt, moniuszko, and kodalys missa brevis.
