Causes: Economic Development
Mission: To diversify and expand the economic base of the district by actively supporting existing businesses and promoting new business development by 1) advocating the economic development interests of the region, 2) promoting coordination, cooperation and communication among economic development groups and organizations, 3) providing access to financial incentives for business and industry in the region, 4) importing outside capital into the region for economic development and public works projects, 5) conducting research to identify new economic opportunities in the region and 6) providing supporting services for marketing the region for business and industrial expansion.
Programs: As of september 30, 2014, columbia pacific economic development district financed six loans totaling $591,135 to eligible small business borrowers under the intermediary relending program of the usda rural business cooperative services, including two new loans totaling $379,920. Through the rural business enterprise grant, additional loans totaling $365,861 were provided to eligible small business owners which retained 21 jobs and created 62 new jobs. In addition, the organization wrote grants resulting in $415,000 in successful awards and provided staffing services for the region's transportation entities.
