This organization fills a unique niche in the cancer support and education field. The risk of being diagnosed with colorectal cancer under the age of 50 is increasing. This organization has unique educational efforts geared to a younger audience that are effective at getting the message out about symptoms and screening. Additionally, it is difficult to find peers in local support groups who are simultaneously raising young children and being treated for colorectal cancer. The support forum provided by The Colon Club is a very active forum that provides outstanding support for a young (under 50 (typical range 25-50)) person being treated for colorectal cancer. Other forums tend to have participants that are much older and in many cases don't have the same support needs. I am also a professional in the field of nonprofit organizations and while there are many charitable organizations that overlap in their efforts and goals, this organization does not - it fills a unique niche.
