This is a very unsafe place to live and also work! The management staff for housing knows absolutely nothing about housing. I was never allowed to do my job, a resident was allowed to attempt to attack me. They allow vicious and violent people to live there around some women and children who are honestly already suffering from violence, the manager, her boss, and CEO don't care. The act of violence towards me was seen on video by these managers and they did nothing. They allow sex offenders on the property around women and children. Volunteers are allowed to look at and go through current and prior residents personal information, all because they don't want to do work property management is supposed to do. They refused to open the waitlist to give honest people in need a fair chance. They are getting tons of money from places but refuse to stay in compliance. Every single file is missing very important items, including household identification, proof of income and employment. They also practice very unhealthy ways as well. The manager doesn't do proper cleaning in between moves. No painting or cleaning walls also no carpet cleaning. Also half the women there are not real victims of domestic violence and management knows this. There is justice for a resolution for places like this and I will get it!!
I have been volunteering at Coburn Place for 5 years. I started by decorating apartments and getting them ready for the women and their children to move into. It is an amazing feeling to look at a completed apartment and know that a women that has been struggling can walk in to her own apartment and everything she needs is right there for her. I feel good in knowing that I was helped take one of her many stresses off her shoulders, b/c she now has a SAFE place to sleep and begin her journey.
