I became a member of COSEM in 2023. I was amazed by all the resources and opportunities this community had regarding Mindfulness Based Social Emotional Learning. I enjoy being with positive and likeminded individuals from all over the world. I was so impressed that I applied to be a board member in 2024. I truly believe that this community can assist in your personal practice, help change your work climate, and make a major impact on how staff/students can incorporate mindfulness into all aspects of the school and personal lives. Currently, my entire safe school program is participating in the micro-credential program!
COSEM has been a foundational organization in my learning and lesson planning for educating mindfully on all levels. They are responsive and supportive at all times and their workshop offerings and MBSEL credential program are top notch! I highly recommend joining and participating in the various opportunities they offer. Thank you, COSEM!
COSEM has been invaluable in providing resources and support for educators, and mostly providing it all for free. The team is supportive and responsive. COSEM is a much-needed organizational and educational resource in the work of educating mindfully.
COSEM provides meaningful opportunities for educators to learn about mindfulness in many different facets. There are a variety of ways to engage with this growing community.
It has been my pleasure to be a COSEM member for the past year. COSEM offers a vibrant community of like minded folks who come together through community circles, PD, virtual events and the thriving online platform. I was so impressed that I applied to become a board member so I could deepen my commitment to the organization. In short, this work matters. What COSEM is doing is at once both noble and practical. We are equipping the next generation, in a thoughtful and thorough way, to move more mindfully through the world.
The advocacy and education work that COSEM does within the micro and macro-community is just wonderful. This is a group of people who are passionate and dedicated to children and their teachers. I loved the work they did so much that I immediately applied to be a part of the organization when I saw the opportunity. They work with dignity, compassion, and are constantly striving to collaborate with other groups doing the good work. Bringing mindfulness-based SEL to schools one impassioned teacher at a time - thanks COSEM!
Coalition of Schools Educating Mindfully, or COSEM is a dynamic space of educator leaders, practitioners, and community leaders to engage in life-changing resources related to social emotional learning and mindfulness in schools. The mission of the organization is provide the field of social emotional leaders and supporters with the platform, resources, and skills to engage in transformative space for the educator sector. In other words, COSEM gives the the necessary space for schools to become spaces of love, joy, and harmonious to provide both educators and students with necessary skills to become radical change using the K-12 schools. However, while I'm not in the classroom at this given moment, as Black male educator., COSEM is a premier one-stop shop to disrupt and dismantle habits of oppression for marginalized students in schools to develop positive social emotional and mindfulness in schools.
COSEM is an absolutely great organization that inspires people and brings them together to promote mindfulness in schools and communities! From the time I participated in its first Educating Mindfully Conference, through then participating in its workshops, presentations, and also local chapter activities, I have met with so much passion for creating a positive and lasting change within the school systems, inspiration for heart-to-heart connection, embodiment of kindness, and support for personal growth and well-being of educators as well as students. I feel so grateful to be a part of COSEM!
The Coalition of Schools Educating Mindfully has been an incredible resource for educators, parents, students, schools, partners, and all of their members. It has helped me personally as the pandemic has been challenging. I am honored to be a part of this amazing organization. The leaders are committed to share mindfulness practices to all. I look forward towards supporting their mission for years to come. Their offerings are needed now more than ever. As the Founder of Latinas in Wellness, I am proud to represent COSEM in a myriad of spaces.
I’ve learned a lot from this group about bringing mindfulness to the world of education. From the first emcon I attended to applying for a place on the board. We learn together and schools benefit from all the shared knowledge and compassionate people involved with this team.
There is absolutely no better organization that supports educators in their mission to promote mindfulness in schools. All involved in COSEM are affiliated with different schools and districts around the nation, and we each play different roles from school counselors to administrators to a Spanish or art teacher. Each of us doing our part to assist any educator or school personal in their quest to bring social emotional wellness to the students and staff we work with. Our board and leadership team is comprised of people working overtime to support one another and those in their own school system. Lindsey and Tracy make the perfect duo guiding COSEM to greatness.
COSEM has had a tremendous impact on my growth and empowerment to integrate mindfulness within my learning communities and life. There is something very special about this organization that is truly heart-led. Everyone is welcomed, seen, heard, and valued. COSEM shares experiences that create lasting change, no matter what level of mindfulness experience you have (both personally and within your classroom/school/district). COSEM fosters inspired changemakers in this important mission within education.
"By joining forces and assisting each other as we implement holistic approaches to education, we equip our communities with skills to heal and thrive, and create a more equitable, compassionate world."
COSEM provides a wealth of support to educators, mental health professionals and anyone who is interested in deepening their own mindfulness practice. As a teacher of mindfulness in a public elementary school, I was grateful to have found this organization. I am now retired but spreading the word to those who are interested!
COSEM is a fantastic organization that brings educators together in support of the well-being of all.
I got involved with COSEM through a connection to my local DE chapter. After presenting for my local chapter I began to embrace opportunities within COSEM, enrolled in the Micro-Credential, presented a breakout session for the COSEM conference and my passion for this incredible nonprofit has exploded! The support, resources, experiences and knowledge based opportunities is HUGE! I cannot recommend this space more for continuing a mindful journey not only for your professional life but for your personal journey and learning. I am now currently on the board and operational team having received my micro-credential recently.
Grateful for this nonprofit beyond words...empowering...inspiring...passion building
COSEM has helped me grow as an educator and I've learned strategies to care for myself so that I can be the best me that I can be for the students that I serve. COSEM has so many resources for educators that assist with bringing mindfulness into the classroom to ensure students are ready for learning.
COSEM is an incredible organization that connects educators who use mindfulness in life and in their classrooms. They provide trainings, a mini-credential, and so many resources! So thankful to work with them.
