Mission: Hiv aging research and education
Programs: Pcori - patient centered outcomes research: this is a 2 year project to build our organization's capacity to identify topics of most pressing concern and interest to our target population, people with long term hiv disease. First identifying a spectrum of involved stakeholders, ranging from patients, to physicians, to researchers, to the hiv affected public at large, and then conducting focus groups and citizen panels among these stakeholders, we will develop a comprehensive workplan to conduct coordinated research to improve both the health and quality of life of those aging with hiv.
portal project - web development: we undertook a pilot program, completed in 2017, to determine whether a new and independent voice in hiv & aging could provide a meaningful impact on the research and card discussions among clinicians, pharmaceutical companies, hiv/aids service organizations, people living with hiv/aids and the hiv interested public at large. We concluded that we could not provide a meaningful impact, and, accordingly, the program was discontinued.
positive life education series: a monthly series of lectures, meetings, seminars and group discussions on a wide variety of topics under the umbrella of hiv and aging. Meetings are open to all interested and serve to improve knowledge and understanding of key issues and of support and treatment alternatives available.
