As President of the Sterling Heights Lions Club and member of the Clinton Valley Kiwanis Club, we have collaborated on several programs to better our community. We held a "Better Together" collaboration event in March where 100 service agencies, nonprofits, chambers, funders, pantries, and other organizations conducted a speed networking program to highlight their programs, projects, and needs. It was an awesome event that has led to many other collaborations and projects.

I've been a member of the Clinton Valley Kiwanis club for 18 years. Those years have been filled with many opportunities to help children in need within our local community. Through our fundraising activities we have directly or in partnership with other charities have helped to ease the burden of homelessness, food insecurities, illiteracy and youth suicide, to name just a few. Our job is far from being done. Won't you join us in reaching out to children in need within our Michigan community?

Last year we were contacted by a teacher in a charter school in Roseville requesting help for 2 of her students. The boys were absent a few days and she had no knowledge as to what was going on in their family. Later she found out that the boys had lost their mother who was their sole caretaker. Fortunately, the grandmother stepped in to take of raising the boys. However, the problem she faced was that she didn't have the money to buy each of them beds. The teacher presented the situation to the Club requesting help on their behalf. We immediately made arrangements to deliver beds to the grandmother. Along with our help, the teachers from the charter school also provided financial assistance to the grandmother. Very proud to say that the teacher was my daughter Jessica. This is just one example of how our Club provides immediate attention to families in need.

We do so much to help the kids in our county. We had our biggest event a couple of weeks ago for the homeless children in Macomb County. In a few weeks we will be having a Thanksgiving food drive and the first week in December we will have a Santa Shop in an underprivileged local school. We assist the kids in buying gifts for their families if they don't have the money shop.

I joined this organization and got much more out of it than I had imagined. The volunteers in this group are the nicest, most genuine people I know. They give so much of themselves to the children in our area who need help. Truly, they assist all children. Hungry children. Low-income children. Blind children. They hold a variety of fundraisers throughout the year and generate a great deal of support, - keeping nothing back for themselves. I'm so honored to know the people in this group and can't imagine my life without them!

Clinton Valley Kiwanis is a small but mighty group of caring individuals that want to do everything we can to help our communities in Macomb County. We make children our Priority One! We do many service projects for children, like our Project Literacy, Santa Shop, Book Fairs, where children get two free books to take home. We also do food projects to help fight food insecurities. People in need contact us for many things like beds, winter coats, backpacks, and so much more. Like I said, we are small, but mighty and are very proud to be able to do what we can for our Macomb County communities!

The smiles on the faces of the kids getting a book or the seniors listening to the story time in the senior center, priceless.

I work in Community Outreach for Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan (BCFM) and recently gave a presentation about our mission at a Clinton Valley Kiwanis Club meeting. I am so grateful to the club for the invitation to speak as well as for their engaging questions, heartfelt sharing and generous help in spreading the word about BCFM programs, far and wide across the community. This is a wonderfully dedicated and passionate group that is making a positive impact in the lives of many--thank you for all you do! Dan L.

My uncle has been a Kiwanis member in Garden City, MI for many years. After collaborating with the Clinton Valley Kiwanis and my Lions Club I was so impressed with what they do in the community that I joined their club. I look forward to working with the club to better our community.

The world is a better place when you witness the smile of a child, the comfort and knowledge that they understand others care for them. Welcome to the club.

Clinton Valley Kiwanis HELPS KIDS ... with suicide prevention/mental health, homelessness, food insecurity, literacy, scholarships, Christmas gifts and more. We also support other local organizations like All The World's A Stage, Macomb Habitat for Humanity, Know Resolve Suicide Prevention, and Turning Point. We are all volunteers - there are no paid staff. The funds we raise go back out into the community. I'm proud to be a member and a Board Member of this amazing organization.

Clinton Valley Kiwanis is very active in the community specializing in working with children in need. The largest fundraiser of the year raises money that is shared between the Macomb Homeless Coalition and the MISD benefitting homeless children in Macomb County. This one day event is attended by 450+ attendees and generally raises $23,000+ dollars which is divided between the two organizations. We also supply 2 books per each student in one Class A school a year—all students in the grade school—at no charge to the students. Literacy is also at the top of what Clinton Valley Kiwanis does. We also display flags in front of business on Gratiot Avenue on 6 of our flag holidays. Businesses pay for this as part of ongoing fundraiser. Clinton Valley Kiwanis is dynamic, energetic and works hard helping the community.

In addition to the wonderful things you mentioned, this group works diligently to brighten the lives of those they touch, senior home visits, suicide awareness and prevention, food drives, toys for kids, and the physical, emotional, and social lives of the kids they touch. Great job team!!!!

I have collaborated with President Cynthia Greening on numerous projects and love the enthusiasm in which leads the group and the members embrace the need of the community. Her transformational leadership is setting the stage for continued success and contributions in the community. We at Susie Q's Kids look forward to more collaborations.
