I started volunteering with CVC about 2 years ago, assisting the educators in the classroom. I appreciate the way CVC teaches about recycling but why it should be important for all of us. I love going into the streams with the students and looking for bugs that tell you how healthy (or not) the streams are. All the students in the Roanoke Valley benefit from learning to keep our home clean and green for us and our future generations.

Mission: Clean Valley Council’s mission is to encourage environmental stewardship and lead the way towards a sustainable tomorrow by educating and inspiring those around us.
Target demographics: Be better stewards of our environment through education and example.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Educational programs reached 3,994 youth and 173 adults with an additional 46,069 public event participants.

Programs: Environmental programs:communications/public information public service announcements, newspaper articles and ads on recycling, web site public speaking engagements
environmental education programs:school programs an outreach to approximately 35,000 school children and 2,500 adults, school visits contests, awards and conferences
waste management:fairs and clean-ups, litter control, clean valley day, fall river clean-up, earth day approximately 2,600 participants
