Mission: Civil advocacy project provides micro entrepreneurship assistance and legal advocacy to indigent individuals, assists veterans to appeal denial of disabled status, provides assistance for small home based startup businesses, litigation support for civil claims of indigent people
Programs: Cap defended low income clients in danger of losing parental rights, tenants who were illegallly evicted, and a veteran who had been denied disabilty. It is in the publics interest that tenants, victims of domestic violence and veterans have an advocate who can represent them in court. No fees were collected in connection with any litigated cases during this fiscal year. Any fees sought during litigation were instrumental in increasing pressure for settlement of the case and were not collected. Cap taught courses about risk, business entity formation and contracts. Cap consulted with eligible micro and small business, drafted contract templates and formed liability limitng entities on behalf of low income clients. Expenses for program activites include staff salaries for operations conducted during the year. Staff time is divided between program activities as needed.
