Extremely uncomfortable working environment with unethical and illegal practices.
I witnessed two people get fired within my first month of working.
The organization is an absolute mess because staff would change constantly. No wants to stay there longer than a year.
he entire organization is a scam, they receive grants for tens of thousands of dollars but also don't pay for anything so I'm assuming management is walking around with some pretty fat pockets full of the organizations money considering they live in amazing apartments on mercer street. They treat interns there like slaves.
A great organization that i am interning for the work they have done in various countries is inspiring,
CITYarts is a great nonprofit organization that helps youth and local communities around the world. It isn't just about creating beautiful murals but also about informing younger crowds with social and global issues. Also, staff are very welcoming and friendly, loved working with them!
CITYarts has a tremendous impact on the New York City community through its tireless work supporting youth. As a huge advocate for education reform, I fully believe in the benefit of art programs in improving the academic performance and success rate of low-income, at-risk youth. Too often, youth in these communities are starved of extracurricular opportunities. CITYarts' model not only brightens the lives of students who otherwise would have little to no access to arts programs, but simultaneously improves some of NYC's neediest communities through these huge public art works - works that increase public morale while giving kids & community members a sense of ownership. My personal favorite is the Harlem Peace Wall at Jacob H. Schiff Park, which I get to see everyday! Thank you, CITYarts, for all that you do!
I have been volunteering for CITYarts for 3 weeks now and I love it. I could participate to events and see some public murals CITYarts has organized and the job is amazing !!
Great concept and great people !!
CITYarts does aMAZing mural work with kids in the NY metropolitan area and around the world. Some of the kindest and most talented staff you will find. I loved every moment I was with them, and seeing the looks on kids' faces when they see their finished product is a feeling unlike any other.
CITYarts is a n excellent organization that both empowers youth through the creation of mural and mosaic, but more importantly, provides those youth with a global perspective and framework for which to better the world they see around them. The lessons learned through the creation of murals throughout the world are lessons that youth will carry with them well into adulthood. In addition, a sense of ownership and pride in one's community is extremely powerful and special for youth growing up in disadvantaged areas.
CITYarts is an amazing organization with the capacity to change lives around the world. The creation of public murals and mosaics have the power to impact the lives of youth participants as well as the rest of the community. Through the creative process, CITYarts helps youth build social, teambuilding, and professional skills that they will use throughout their lives. CITYarts murals promote peace and care for our environment and actively engages youth, volunteers, and supporters in these important conversations.
Cityarts is a special organization. What I love best about it is how personal and connected we remain to the youth even as we grow and expand outward. The youth we work with become exposed to positive experiences with the arts that they can take with them. Some of the alumni of the program have told us that it was a helpful outlet for them as they journeyed into adulthood.
