Mission: City of Dreams is dedicated to helping youth living in San Francisco's Bayview District low income housing build brighter futures through mentorship and youth development. Our program provides adolescents with the tools they need to become positive young adults capable of contributing to their communities and pursuing their highest potential. We are a 501(c)3, volunteer-based organization serving young people ages 8-24 who live in San Francisco's public housing communities. City of Dreams gets results. In four areas key to a positive future; graduating high school and staying free of drugs and alcohol, gang activity and early pregnancy. Adolescents in City of Dreams have achieved remarkable success and healing as a result of generational trauma and poverty.

I joined City of Dreams in 2020 as a mentor after trying to find a mentorship program I could get involved with. I was hoping to find a program that allowed me to support my local community and connect 1:1 with youth to build relationships and support them through important developmental years -- and am so happy to have found CoD.

The team at City of Dreams is so supportive, not only of the youth and community, but of the mentors as well, making sure everyone has what they need to simply focus on creating the best experience possible for the youth.

I've joined a number of Super Saturday events, from surfing to woodworking to Topgolf, all so much fun (even for the mentors!) The best part is getting to see the youth having experiences they may not have done or have even thought of before, seeing their interests and skills grow.

Beyond that, I was matched with a mentee that I've been able to spend time with over the last few years. Seeing her grow into a confident middle schooler has been so much fun and I look forward to continuing to build our relationship!

City of Dreams is an amazing program offering life changing opportunities to San Francisco youth! Providing youth with mentors is pivotal to their development and is an opportunity I wish I had myself growing up.

Attending a gardening session with the children taught me skills that I can apply in tending to my own plants and veggies at home, and the kids are very enthusiastic in keeping their garden space tidy! This sense of ownership and belonging are crucial in the development of youth in Bayview.

Staff is great, each and every individual deeply cares about the work they're doing and the impact they're making on their community. City of Dreams is not only doing the work of exposing Bayview youth to experiences not normally offered to them, but also making sure that each and every child that comes in contact with the organization is supported and taken care of!

I'm very happy to be serving as a Board member and looking forward to where the organization can go from here!
