Causes: Community Improvement & Capacity Building, Community Service Clubs
Mission: To inform its members and the community in public matters and to arouse in them the realization of the obligations of citizenship.
Programs: Friday forums: city clubs 40+ friday forums reached over 10,000 live attendees, plus a weekly radio audience of about 15,000 on oregon public broadcasting listeners. In addition, civic-minded citizens find the forums on kpbs am radio, portland community media cable television rebroadcasts, and on the city club website. City club also held more than 100 additional small programs to inform members and the public on civic affairs.
membership services: 52 weekly bulletins published and emailed in order to educate 1,900 members about upcoming activities and issues of public importance. Annual report published for membership on the organizations activities. On-line membership directory maintained. 12 member welcome events held to provide opportunities for members to learn how to get involved with club programs and mission delivery.
research & advocacy: published 9 ballot measure studies, 2 major research reports, undertook 4 more, and advocated for the recommendations of 9 research reports. All reports were distributed to city club members, legislators, and interested persons across the state. The website offers an archive of 1,000 research reports published since 1920.
