Such an amazing shelter. Dog and cats get taken care of and adopted out. I love volunteering here. The staff and other volunteers are so nice.
I adopted my Shepard mix, Pitta Atma in 2005. She was and has been an amazing teacher and supporter to me and my family. I had no intention of adopting that day as I already had 3 cats and 2 dogs. When I met her I just knew. I was headed out of town for an extensive trip and CHS was kind enough to old onto her for me a few extra days so that I would be available for her new family integration.
We have been a happy family ever since. I still have 2 dogs and 2 cats so I consider myself "FULL". If I had the desire to adopt again I will certainly visit CHS. I have recommended them many times as a local shelter for adoption and will continue to do so!
I have been a volunteer for over 13 years now and this is a great organization. They are a low kill shelter and one of the 1st shelters in Columbus to adopt out pit bulls and pit bull type dogs, which is why they are so special to me. I am a pit bull lover and have been for over 20 years when I was given my 1st pit bull/Staffordshire terrier. I had no idea at that time what kind of dog Scooter was, he was just a cute puppy that needed a good home. I have since had 4 pit bulls and they are the best dogs ever. The shelter has a great staff and wonderful volunteers. It is a privilege to work with such a great group of animal lovers.
