Mission: Citizens for Global Solutions Education Fund works to build political will in the United States by educating Americans about our global interdependence, communicating global concerns to public officials, and developing proposals to create, reform, and strengthen international institutions such as the United Nations.
Programs: Five main program areas:U.S. Global Engagement: Promoting a multilateral foreign policy. We advocate for a foreign policy that makes us stronger and safer through teamwork, cooperation, and effective global institutions.Peace and Security: Advocating collaborative approaches to prevent and resolve conflicts and establish effective peace operations. We promote an empowered, efficient and accountable UN peacekeeping capacity to meet the challenges posed to the world by post-conflict regions.International Law and Justice: Strengthening laws and institutions that protect human rights and help nations resolve disputes peacefully. We promote U.S. cooperation with the International Criminal Court to prevent atrocities and help bring to justice future Hitlers, Pol Pots, and Idi Amins.International Institutions: Proposing reforms to make international decision-making more effective, transparent, accountable, and democratic. We seek practical reforms to improve the United Nations and support a UN democracy caucus, encouraging democratic nations to lead UN decision-making bodies.Health and Environment: Supporting global cooperative efforts to confront environmental and public health challenges. We want to see the U.S. resume its leadership role in protecting the global environment. We promote the establishment of an international system to help countries work together to protect the environment and manage shared natural resources.
CGS does a great job of keeping the public informed of what's happening in our world. Their use of multimedia is especially useful as young audiences continue to engage in this technology
This organization does as excellent job of educating the public and performing valuable advocacy work in the international arena. It focuses on the United Nations as well as important international agreements and initiatives, which are so necessary in this increasingly interdependent world we live in.
I have admired this organization ever since I first heard about it's goals in the 1950s. While I was in graduate school at Cornell University I heard a talk by Norman Cousins. He spoke of his vision of the U.S. actively pursuing a just and peaceful world through cooperative global decision-making. This organization pushes for a U.S. foreign policy that reflects the values of equality and justice by empowering global structures like the UN....to work for global solutions. It has accomplished much in over 60 years of working for global solutions.
