Mission: The mission of friends quarters housing development fund corporation is to provide safe, affordable housing and vital support services to men and women living with aids who were formerly homeless or marginally housed.
Programs: On site clinical services for residents: our clinical program is based on the core values of the social work profession. We hire graduate level social workers as best practice for quality client care. We work towards advocacy on the micro and the macro level depending on issues that affect the communities that we work with. At friends house, each of our 50 residents is assigned a social worker with whom they meet weekly, working together across a variety of domains in order to develop plans of action that best facilitate the resident's progress, health, and access to necessary resources. Though each case is different, a resident's service plan may include maintaining medical and dental compliance, advancing his or her education, addressing abusive relationships, organizing financial management, maintaining his or her apartment, managing sobriety, and disengaging from high-risk behavior. As a result of working within the residence, social workers are uniquely positioned to provide consistent access and support services to residents, cultivating an atmosphere that facilitates relationship-building and constant movement toward the achievement of goals. The holistic quality of work with residents lends a depth and significance specific to supportive housing. Additionally, social workers make a range of referrals to outside service agencies. In 2014, friends house provided services to 57 residents in total.
