Mission: To assist youth and young women survivors of violence, street life, and human trafficking in their efforts to pursue educational endeavors and acquire skills to become self-sufficient.
Programs: Our first area of focus is on providing preventative education and training, through circle of friends protective and preventative sex trafficking and exploitation training for healthcare and educational professionals. The training helps practitioners identify and help prevent girls from being sold the first time. -in collaboration with the national conference on health disparities, dillard and tulane university, cofcl facilitated their protective and preventive training for health care professionals. Tulane university provided cme's for the healthcare professionals in attendance. Our comprehensive training received a 98% success rate. -within the first hours of training, there master social workers applied what they were learning, on-the-spot, and successfully identified three young females on their active caseloads as trafficking victims. The three individuals were, subsequently, successfully located, engaged, assessed and offered appropriate services and treatment
our second area of focus is on providing the newly launched cofcl's circle of friends impact scholarship to survivors of trafficking and or exploitation who are ready and desire to continue their education. Whether it is at a technical school, college or university. Cofcl is intentional in delivering access and opportunities to help survivors with their next best step toward a promising future. -the inaugural circle of friends impact scholarship recipient received a 7500 scholarship that assisted with tuition, housing and her food plan for the 2017-2018 school year.
