We have driven 2.5 hours to Cushing to rescue 2 different babies. Our first one was a Great Pyrenees named Bullet who was a little skiddish when we got him but turned out to be a wonderful dog for our Ranch. Then we drove again and rescued our Doxen mix named Carolyn who we changed to Twiggy, that was almost 14 years ago, we to this day still have Twiggy. Unfortunately Bullet passed away but is buried in a loving cemetery we have here on the ranch. Thank you CVHS for providing us with such sweet babies!!! This group of individuals go above and beyond to help these sweet babies.
We found our little Maltese/Bichon?/Poo? mix, Annie, through Cimarron Valley Humane society and we just love her SO much. She has become an important part of our family. We love and adore her playful, smart, loving character. Cimarron Valley does such a great job of taking care of their adoptees and preparing them to be good pets for the adopter. They truly love and care for every animal they take in.
I have had an amazing experience working with CVHS! Terri was able to connect us with our dog Wrigley who we have had for 9 years!
Our dog, Snoopy, spent much of his first year of life tied to a tree. I believe it was a home of well-meaning people overwhelmed with way too many pets. With big snowfall expected, the people had enough sense to contact the local pound to surrender Snoopy and his little dog buddy. The pound, likely at capacity, realized the situation and contacted CVHS to immediately foster Snoopy and place him in the right home. I’m so thankful they did. He is such a good dog, our family has nicknamed him “The Best Boy in the Whole World!” He had many applicants by the time I saw his listing, so I’m grateful we were chosen. We had previously adopted another dog through the prison PAP training program and I believe she was initially vetted from the local pound by CVHS. I cannot stress how thoughtful the Cimarron workers are. They brought Snoopy to my home for a meet and greet. They inspected my yard to ensure safe fencing. They looked into my references. It was all a process in place for the safety of these neglected animals they love and value. He was chipped and neutered and well socialized when he came home to us. Thank you CVHS for saving these pets! Our community is a better place because of you. We LOVE our rescued babies!
These people work so hard through their volunteer foster program to provide good, safe homes to pets. This is volunteer based organization (pets that are up for adoption stay in the homes of their volunteers), so the way to contact them is online. They go the extra mile to be absolutely certain their pets will be getting a good home, and I love that they do that to protect innocent animals. I love my dog I adopted from their program. They saved him from a kill shelter by placing him in one of their foster homes until he could be adopted, and this is a non-stop process they are continually working so hard at to get pets into good homes. I could never thank them enough for everything they’ve do!!
After adopting my deaf pit bull from CVHS in 2013, I started fostering for them. I have hosted over 150 dogs in my home. The volunteers are amazing. Hundreds of dogs a year are alive because of the tireless efforts of these people. All the dogs in their care live in homes so you get to know how they are in a home setting. It is also good for traumatized dogs to adapt to a home rather than a cage. It's a real shame that the childish people who don't get the dog they want are trying to trash the reputation of these people. This is why rescue workers burn out.

We had difficulty with one of the fosters. Without going into detail, it was an instant when she decided at the last minute to keep the dog we were trying to adopt.
After contacting the people in charge, the situation was quickly resolved. The foster was released from her position and she will not be hurting other families.
I was VERY impressed with the manager's (for lack of a better term) quick response and even then, quick action. It showed that they care about being a GOOD agency, not just one in name only.
Review from Guidestar
The team at CVHS works tirelessly on their own time to find homes for the pets in their care. There is no physical address as the available pets are all fosters staying in volunteers’ homes. They are VERY particular about who gets to take one of these special pets home. If you are one of the lucky ones, know the special animal you get will be well taken care of, and will the the best friend you will ever have. We love the dog we adopted through them and wouldn’t change a thing! Thank you!!!
I don't know if this place is real, beware. They don't have a physical address listed and do not have a current phone number. Everything has to be done through email and the email is yahoo. Nothing from this place seems official. Every email I have received from an actual Humane Society in Oklahoma has a .org email. The email response you receive is very unofficial and seems like spam. All the animals listed on petfinder have been in foster for years which is alarming in itself. If you write a review on their wordpress site, they review/delete it. The application asks for a lot of personal information and it seems common to be denied for inadequate vet records when you list your vet(s). They get back to you very quickly about this denial and when I called both my vet offices to see if they called, I was informed they never called them. They give 5 possible reasons your application could have been rejected but say it was only one of the 5 reasons. The other 4 reasons were never listed as being needed on the animal description, so it seems weird to be denied for that. I personally feel like this is either fake/fraud or this is someone collecting donations/government funding but does not actually have any dogs for adoption. Additionally the dogs are labeled as "puppy" under petfinder.com with both their puppy pictures and their adult pictures which is VERY misleading. They are not puppies if they are 2 years old.
Absolutely the best experience! Professional and concerned about their animals. We adopted a wonderful dog that we adore! Angie who facilitated and was Scooby’sfoster Mom was wonderful. Highly recommend!
I had a bad experience with this agency. I contacted them and expressed interest in one of their animals. I received an email reply the following weekend. I was told they could not verify my vet information, and therefore I could not adopt. I contacted them several times since, to provide information that would allow them to verify my vet as I have had the same one for years. At this time, I am not sure they ever even contacted my vet, but if they did, they made no effort to get clarification (which would have literally taken a minute to do) after I provided them with additional information. Most of the animals I have ever owned were either rescued or came from a shelter. This is despicable and dishonest to many people that truly want to help animals find permanent homes. I would not consider this agency for pet adoption.
