Mission: The church parish nurse ministries, inc. , (tcpnm) was organized exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, and educational purposes, to promote spiritual, emotional, and physical wellness among members of the congregation and community, through education, some financial assistance, advocacy and nurturing.
Programs: In 2017 the need assistance program (nap) dispensed funds to 37 individuals and/or families, preventing utility shut offs, home evictions, bought nutritious food and bus passes/gasoline to assist with transport. Due to limited income/ no reserve an emergency forces a repeated cycle and stress. Unable to secure needed resource nap gives them hope and a safety net in a crisis situation. This services is estimated to have a value of $2,387.
in 2017 the youth literacy program (ylp) donated brand new books and educational resources to 315 youth to keep as their own and share with family and friends. And, we conducted a community writing project and story-time activities for an after school program, reaching another 20 youth. Participants described the activities as educational and lots of fun, and are looking forward to future awesome activities. These ylp services are estimated to have a value of $5,500.
in 2017 the parish nurse ministry (pnm) program assisted 40 recipients with health education and counseling, referrals to the appropriate healthcare and social services providers. Pnm services was delivered either one-on-one or group, made mobile to accommodate recipients choice and location (home, provider office, community center, etc. ) preferences. This service is estimated to have a value of $2,000.
