Mission: Christmas in April began in 1973 in Midland, TX, where some local community leaders and volunteers assisted a neighbor in need by rehabilitating her dilapidated home. The program spread, and Christmas in April USA was founded in 1988 as the national headquarters, offering assistance to our 245 affiliates across the country to provide necessary repairs to low-income homeowners and communities. The work done on these homes is free for the homeowner, and done primarily by skilled and unskilled volunteers. Both volunteers and recipients benefit from improving their communities, one house, one non-profit facility, at a time.
