Mission: The Christian Hope Association has for over 40 years, provided crucial safety net and development services to Whatcom County residents from a Christian perspective.
CHA has aided families lacking basic necessities, closing the gap of need for nutrition, housing, utilities, transportation, medical and clothing. We also work for the disadvantaged by leading our community to build on its own capacity to solve problems.
CHA exists to help build community. We define community as "human relationships held together by relational ties, living out a common purpose, through common participation."
We are attempting to work toward this goal through our personal and corporate service, in such a way that will promote genuine community under the care of God. We work to aid individuals and families to serve one another. We work to aid and call our neighbors to use the strength and resources of their community, to bless those who have few resources.
We hope to lead and encourage our community to work together to accomplish their dreams, solve their problems, and bless others with their faith and service.
Programs: The Christian Hope Association started from concerns by people who felt the poor were forgotten. Through the years CHA formed the now independent One-to-One Ministries (prisoner and elderly care); Concerned Christian Citizens (justice education); and Project Hope (our primary relief and development ministry).
A core value of CHA is inter-agency collaboration. We network regularly with organizations such as: the Dept. of Social Services, Love INC, school districts, churches and ministerial associations, and the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee.
CHA has a reputation for innovation; and for broadening its mission to foster sustainable change in people s lives through development efforts. We have initiated several creative and effective programs enhancing dignity, responsibility, and growth. Our human service program (Project Hope) continues to aid hundreds of individuals and families with food, clothing, household belongings, financial crisis matters, scholarships, micro enterprise loans, and general counseling.
We are in our 5th year of running a transitional living program for women and their children. This program offers 9 apartments to homeless families who have been victims of domestic violence or other crisis situations leaving them homeless. Your support will help others recover new life through a new hope.
