I am a sailor in the US Navy. Serving this country also opened my eyes to what families in other countries are facing. Some families need just a little support and it will have a very high impact on their current conditions. Cameroon, my home country has a civil war/crisis that has intensely affected the Northwest and Southwest(English Speaking areas). As a result, families are homeless, kids become orphans, families migrate to other regions or neighboring countries for a new start and life has become a living hell for most of them. The people staying back live in fear for their lives from either the government or the freedom fighters.
I decided to follow NGOs like this to get support and ideas to help families affected by these wars in Cameroon. I recently created a page to pass the word and hope I get more people to see these struggles and send aid to these people. Help can be sent via physical stuff to support a kid's education and basic life requirements for survival or contributed to our “GoFundMe” to build temporary housing for some families. Abundant Life INC (in Christ) is a fairly young ministry. From its beginnings, Christ for the City International has nurtured and counseled and helped us navigate ministry operations. They have been so helpful in coordinating trips and meetings and translating for us. They truly understand and live ‘unity’ in the body of Christ. They are selfless and embody all the love attributes listed in 1 Corinthians 13. We are blessed to partner with them in the cause of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We've worked with Christ for the City since 2017 in arranging short-term missions to Costa Rica. They've taken great care of us and their team on the ground in San Jose is fantastic. We can't stop coming back!
We had a great experience with Omaha Urban Plunge, from a variety of serving experiences to quiet time spent with God to hang out time with our youth group
I've taken the Plunge with our youth groups 5 times and was wondering if I could do it on our own rather than through CFCI, but realized it's a much better weekend when we partner with CFCI. They provide a very nice place for us to stay and connect as a group, they line up the meals which frees me as a leader to focus on the students, there was a mis communication with one ministry we went to and our Plunge leader made some calls to find us a new place to help at. Finally, when praying for people living on the street, our Plunge leader gave good wisdom as to whom to visit and whom to pray for at a distance

My husband and I have had the opportunity to serve in two different countries on short term mission projects with Christ for the City International. We have led 3 of these trips. The professionalism of the Omaha staff is amazing. The support they provided us was so helpful. However, it is so much more than the details for this organization. CFCI prays for you and cares for you. The best example I can give you is how they helped our group navigate having to shift to a different country due to political unrest 5 weeks before our mission trip began. Only through God and the powerful prayers of the CFCI staff, the missionaries we were going to serve with and our team did that pivot come to fruition. In addition to the Omaha staff, the missionaries that serve with CFCI are dedicated and are such a blessing. The missionaries in Nicaragua and Peru that we had the opportunity to serve with have become family. We keep in touch with them and we know that they continue to pray for us as we pray for them. If you have an interest in serving with a mission organization, do not hesitate contacting CFCI. You will be supported, prayed over, and loved. You may be serving to be a blessing but with CFCI you will be blessed!
I have used CFCI for multiple mission trips in Dallas, St. Louis, Kansas City and Chicago. I have taken groups as small as 12 and as larges as 20, and CFCI has always been great.
Each trip has provided a wide variety of different types of mission work for the group so each participant got a chance to discover their gifts. The CFCI facilitators were enthusiastic and really connected with my youth.
I loved the fact that CFCI took care of most of the planning! They took care of meals, lodging and finding meaningful was to serve! I will use them again!

Christ For The Citiy is one of the finest ministries that I know of and I've been involved in global outreach for 35 years. They have great vision with absolute integrity to accompany it. They desire to see entire cities transformed by the love of God expressed in all sorts of practical ways. Countless lives have been touched and changed forever! It's been a joy for me to partner with CFCI in a number of ways over many years. They are reliable and have great leadership guiding their God-given assignment. I have been on mission trips to Costa Rica with Christ for the City International since 2013. I have lead trips through CFCI since 2016. I have always appreciated this organization and how they have served myself and my team.
During the planning stage of trip, CFCI offers both leader and participant handbooks with lots of helpful information. As we leave, they provide us with beneficial travel insurance. While on our trip, our translators and host have been the best! We are taken care of from the moment we land, till we are dropped back off at the airport. We are given introductory talks to prepare us for ministry and debrief sessions before we leave. During our stay, the staff is always ready to help problem solve when situations arise. I would recommend Christ for the City International, Inc. to anyone wanting to take a group on a mission trip.
CFCI is an amazing organization! I have used them to plan mission trips for my youth group and they are easy to work with and support you all the way through the trip. I highly recommend them to everyone!
This was an awesome experience for our whole group- from the great lodging facility to the great leaders who helped us through the week. Also they show you a lot about the city and you get to see and help many different ministries that are all happening already. We were treated great from the time we planned the trip and they were all so very helpful. I would recommend everyone try this one!!
I have been privileged to experience Christ for The City, both in the US and in Costa Rica. In the US I have led 3 groups through their Urban Plunge ministry in three different cities. Each was unique and informative and allowed my groups to work with various urban ministries in diverse environments. Our first trip to Costa Rica was the Vision Tour and we saw first hand how Christ for the City is invested in making a difference in one city, San Jose, Costa Rica. Our second trip to San Jose, was to serve two of those communities we had just visited before. What impresses me the most of are the men and women who are serving these communities. Not only their dedication, but level of expertise in their fields. If you are looking for a ministry to support that has experience in supporting and equipping local missionaries, Christ for the City is the organization that does this well.
I have worked with CFCI in multiple ways over the last 5+ years, and have loved my experience with them. From short-term service trips to longer immersion programs, I am grateful for my experiences with them!
I volunteered in Costa Rica in 2008 with CFCI and learned so much and grew so much, that when I was looking to volunteer again in 2014, I contacted CFCI again. I was blessed to work with their ministry in Tirrasses, teaching English and Math. I also had the opportunity to work with fellow short term missionaries who are amazing! All this has now led me to apply to work full-time with CFCI in Costa Rica!
I participated in Christ For the City International's Urban Plunge ministry. It was such a great experience for me. I was able to get outside of my comfort zone by chatting with the homeless. This experience opened my eyes and allowed me to see God's love for people. The Urban Plunge also allowed me to grow in my personal relationship with Christ.
The staff were friendly and answered all of my questions. I would recommend the Urban Plunge and Christ For the City International to my friends and family!
I traveled to Costa Rica to work with CFCI this summer and it was an incredible experience. They operate in the neediest areas and are truly changing people's lives. It was amazing to be a part of their operations for five weeks and I met many precious people through the programs. What a gift to be part of their lives and befriend and reach out to children who have little materially but so much love and joy to give. My time with CFCI was eye-opening and life-changing.
I just returned home from the most wonderful experience I have had in my life. CFCI was and still is absolutely amazing and I'm so grateful that God helped me find them! If it wasn't for God's work through CFCI I wouldn't be on my way to become a full time missionary. I'm forever grateful for my experience and would recommend Christ for the City International to anyone and everyone looking to experience missions or looking to become a full time missionary.
I was in Tijuana, Mexico and I absolutely loved it. I felt so safe being send out with CFCI. My contact person from the office was so sweet. She did a good job planning my trip and updating me along the way. She also took contact when I was in the field and we talked on Skype a few times. She kind of became my mentor, my anchor, while I was on an adventure of a lifetime.
No doubt I will work with CFCI again!
I am a short term individual in Argentina and have been here for six months. I absolutely love every single staff member down here. I am constantly being taken care of. Everytime someone from the home office in Nebraska contacts me, they are always SUPER caring and so nice. It has definitely been an incredible experience.
I went on my first short term mission trip through CFCI (on my own) and it couldn't have gone any better. :) Not only did I learn and experience more than what I thought I would but CFCI was super helpful and there for me through it all. I am so blessed to have gone through such a great organization. :)
I went on a trip with Christ for the City International during my senior year of college. I put my life on hold for one semester to serve in Argentina. The people there were very nice and considerate considering I don't speak spanish. I got to see all of the ministries Christ for the City were doing in Argentina including their street ministry and shanty town (galpones) ministry. I was very inspired by what God is doing here. God is doing awesome things through these people in this ministry.
I took my youth group with CFCI Urban Plunge to Dallas in July. It was a great experience! They were all stretched outside their comfort zones as we served the homeless, prayed for people we only just met, and heard the stories of incredible ministries and missionaries here in the USA. The facilitators they provided were awesome, we had a great time.
