Thank you 11-99! Our son and daughter have graduated. Our son has his masters in material engineering and daughter is getting master's in criminology at San Jose State. Our daughter is working for the FBI at the Sacramento field office. Every time she would walk across the stage, she said she was going to work for the FBI, and she did it!The yearly scholarships helped keep our kids out of debt. Because of that my wife and I make yearly contributions to the 11-99. Whenever any member of our family has an opportunity to thank an 11-99 contributor, we do. The contributor is very taken and has said, No one has ever said that to us! We had a contributor crying when we told her about our daughter and the impact they made on her life!Thank you 11-99! Our family is so grateful for the CHP 11-99 Foundation. Our 11 year old son passed away unexpectedly this summer. Because he was severely disabled, I was his paid caretaker. On that devastating morning, we lost both our child and a significant amount of our monthly income. The 11-99 Foundation donated enough money to cover a month of my pay, giving me time to find new employment. This was significant to us as we navigated the most difficult and painful situation that we have endured thus far. We are so very grateful. Thank you.

I was a member of the California Highway patrol and retired as a Sergeant after 30 years. The 11-99 Foundation has been a great tool and as I have many friends that were involved in it as well as unfortunately losing co-workers in the line of duty, the 11-99 Foundation has always been there to help when needed. When my daughter was ready for college and a nursing career, I made her do the research and necessary paperwork to see about a scholarship, and to our surprise it was granted. Thank you very much for supporting the Department as well as my family, it really has meant a lot to us. I am very proud of my service to the Department and the State of California.

I have never been so blessed and thankful! I am studying to be a teacher, and I was so anxious trying to find out where I was going to get the money for school. The CHP 11-99 Foundation awarded my son a scholarship for his 5 year undergraduate program at Virginia Tech. The scholarship he was awarded helped him in completing his first year and now has assisted in his second year. The 11-99 Foundation lives up to its name. Having served 28 years I was blessed I never needed their direct help due to a work or personal tragedy, but I saw over and over again how they stepped up when people I knew, who severed others, went through the worst experiences.
For me they supported my children in their quest for a college education. The 11-99 scholarships are so helpful taking care of those things like books and cost of living expenses. All five of my children benefited at some level, and all five of them graduated with the help of 11-99.

The financial award given was of a great assistance to pay for my kid's tuition fees. With inflation it is becoming very tough to meet ends. It was a very nice and generous gesture from my employer to award the scholarship which was used to pay towards their tuition fees. This award helped in building their education foundation and so they can advance further as growing adults. THANKS SO MUCH CHP-11-99 Foundation.
While I was in school I struggled financially. I worked almost full time while juggling classes. With the scholarships I got from 11-99 I received the help I needed to be able to work less hours and focus on school. This organization and the donors have helped me so much. I finished my program with honors and I believe their scholarships helped me achieve that. They are appreciated more than they know. I hope to be able to give back like they have to me.
In March of 1995, I was shot and critically injured in the line of duty. The CHP 11-99 Foundation contacted my family the next day offering assistance. The foundation purchased and delivered groceries to my wife and young son during my hospitalization and lengthy recovery, even purchasing birthday gifts for my son’s third birthday. Additionally, the foundation also provided several letters to the state parole board expressing opposition to the parole of the person convicted of my attempted murder.
Years later the CHP 11-99 Foundation provided college scholarships to both my son and daughter easing our financial burdens. Both my son and daughter graduated with degrees and are now successfully employed in their chosen fields.
We cannot thank the CHP 11-99 Foundation enough in the positive impact they have had in assisting my family and the other families of our department.

In 1995, while working as a CHP officer in the Dublin Area, I was shot and critically wounded. The 11-99 foundation was there for my family the next day, and over the next several weeks of my hospitalization, their representative delivered groceries to my home for my wife and young son. They also delivered presents for my son's 3rd birthday. Over the next year of my recovery they remained in touch and constantly offered their assistance. 19 years later they have provided scholarships to my son to ease the financial burden of attending college. The CHP 11-99 Foundation has proven itself time and time again to be a class organization whose generosity has gone above and beyond in assisting families of the CHP in their time of need.
11-99 really helped me so much. I’ve been trying to get back to school for the last couple year. 11-99 gave me the financial help I needed to finally get me there. I’ll be forever grateful.

During my twenty seven years with the CHP I have seen the 11-99 Foundation come to the aid of families during their most distressing times. Whether a line of duty death or a life changing injury, the 11-99 Foundation provides critical support when needed most. The staff, volunteers and donors remind members of the CHP family that they are not alone when facing these challenges. The CHP 11-99 Foundation was of great help to us when our 2 high school seniors graduated with hopes of attending their dream colleges. The CHP 11-99 Foundation has helped make their dreams come true and has helped us put 2 of our kids in college when it might otherwise not have been possible. My husband, a 25 year veteran of the CHP, and I are truly grateful for the scholarships granted to our kids.
The 11-99 Foundation helped me tremendously with enrollment fees and books needed for each semester at my school. I don’t know where I would be financially without the scholarship I was awarded!
As a scholarship recipient, I was able to continue my education. I have earned Dean's List each semester at Fresno City College and will be transferring to Cal State Fullerton in January. Without the help of the 11-99 Foundation, this would not be possible. College is expensive and I need financial help to be able to focus on my studies while working only part time.
My name is Kyle, I'm currently in my senior year at UC Davis and am majoring in Computer Engineering (CE). After five years of completing a brutal degree checklist I am going to graduate with a Bachelors DEBT FREE. I couldn’t have done it without the CHP 11-99 Foundation and here’s why.
I started out attending community college because it’s what I could reasonably afford. My goal was to later transfer to some California university and pursue CE. So I set out to get all my general education done while completing lower division classes for my degree. Private, UC, and CSU universities all had different prerequisites so I had to complete 105 semester units (almost a full degree's worth of classes) just to prepare for transfer.
During this time I was working as a tutor and applying to the 11-99 Foundation to save up for university. By the time I transferred I had some savings but not nearly enough to cover the cost of 2 years of university. I applied to dozens of scholarship opportunities while holding a 3.92 GPA, extracurricular activities, and a perfectly clean record and got nothing.
I felt most of the opportunities helped people that weren’t me like minorities or females in engineering, students in niche degrees, and big community service activists. While these are great opportunities for those students I couldn’t find any program that saw value in me except for the 11-99 Foundation. They have helped me fund my college not once but for all 5 years. That combined with work and some frugality and I’m almost done without having to take out a single loan! I even get to consider graduate school because I don’t have a pile of debt to worry about.
They have been there to support me when I couldn’t find others and have selflessly done so without asking for very much in return. So I truly hope I can use the momentum they’ve given me to find my own successful career and one day give something back. You guys rock!

My father is a retired Sargent with the California Highway Patrol, and because of his years of distinguished service I have the opportunity to apply to the CHP 11-99 Foundation for school scholarships. The 11-99 Foundation has been a huge help to my family and I. Without them I would have never had the opportunity to go straight into Fresno State University and then to a private nursing school in Fresno, CA. Thanks to the 11-99 Foundation I am now getting my BSN in nursing and I’m on my way to becoming an RN.

The CHP 11-99 Foundation is a godsend. I received Fallen Hero Scholarship Awards between 2007-2018. Because of their amazing scholarship program and the generosity of donors, I was able to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Master’s Degree in Legal Studies, and ultimately my Juris Doctorate Degree. With their scholarship awards, I was able to graduate from college and law school completely debt free. I now work for the Superior Court of California. I am eternally grateful for the CHP 11–99 Foundation and everyone who has donated their time, talent, and financial efforts to help students. I am fortunate to attend a private religious college and also very grateful that my parents have supported me throughout college. However, being a recipient of a scholarship has been a tremendous blessing to me, and has relieved my family in a lot of ways. CHP 11-99 Foundation helps save the Ocean! Without a scholarship from the 11-99 Foundation, our daughter could not have participated in the world renowned Sea Education Association's Ocean Exploration: Plastics Expedition Program. During this semester at sea, she studied plastics in the ocean's North Pacific Subtropical Gyre - and completed new research for the Smithsonian on discarded plastics becoming new habitats for ocean life. Support from the 11-99 Foundation allowed our daughter a once in a lifetime experience that inspired her to always look for ways to save the world's environment and pay it forward through her research.
We can’t thank the CHP 11-99 Foundation enough for the annual scholarships for all three of our children. Our two oldest have graduated college and are debt free. The financial assistance has been a true blessing and we are truly overwhelmed by the generosity!
I am currently an Officer with the California Highway Patrol, I was injured on the job and will be medically retiring soon. My husband, a CHP Sergeant, was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006. This foundation assisted us with flight, meal and accommodation expenses when traveling to Northern California for treatment. They even brought his parents out from the east coast to be there for two different surgeries. He subsequently passed away. Again, this foundation was there with great financial assistance for final expenses. We have donated by becoming members, supporting golf tournaments and other fundraisers over the years and will continue to do so. The unwavering support to the CHP employees is second to none.

I have been involved with the CHP 11-99 Foundation for over 38 years!
My respect for these heroes, began when I, as a young woman, was driving on the 101. It was about midnight when I had a flat tire. A CHP Officer stopped to help me. I told him I could call the Auto Club, but he didn't want me to be waiting for any amount of time, alone, at night, so he took out my spare and changed the tire! Shortly after that, I met Bob Weinberg, the Founder of the CHP 11-99 Foundation and he explained his mission: to help the men and women of the California Highway Patrol, who put their lives on the line daily, in an effort to protect the public. And sometimes, tragically, these Officers lose their lives in the line of duty.

This is a tremendous charity that is very much cause first helping our all important first responders and their families of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) when tragedy strikes. The CHP 11-99 Foundation has a great story and a fantastic reputation in the nonprofit community. My father is a life member and I am very honored to serve as an advisor to the organization both for the golf tournament and in some financial capacity. The organization has a strong board with deep roots in the community, many of the original employees still work at the organization and the professionalism of its staff is evident in the day to day operations and fund raisers. The organization has strong financial footing as evident by their annual budget and financial statements.

I am a retired CHP Officer, who has witnessed personally, the outstanding work by the CHP 11-99 Foundation. They are very low key, work tirelessly to help the families of Patrolmen who have been killed or critically injured. Two of my close friends died, one on-duty, the other from brain cancer. Without any fanfare, an 11-99 Foundation representative within a couple of days, provided checks in the amount of $50,000 in the widow’s time of need. Just to help the spouse and children to move forward. In addition, CHP officers provided help for whatever needs the family might have to get them over their darkest days. I became a life member the day I retired, and have been proud to make substantial contributions ever since. The 11-99 Foundation is a wonderful, selfless organization, and even provides scholarships to the children of officers. Whatever is donated goes to the families. I have been a member since the day I retired from the CHP. The people running it, Judith Levine and Bruce Meyer, to name just two, are of the highest caliber. Gordon Graham, a CHP classmate of mine, was selected as the single person to help law enforcement nationally more than anyone else, two years ago. I think it was IPSLEA, which presented the award. Gordon, a brilliant and kind man, was just voted onto the 11-99 Foundation Board of Directors this year. I regard him as the single most important person in the history of the CHP. The 11-99 Foundation always places the families of CHP Officers who have been killed or critically injured first. They also provide scholarships to a plethora of deserving CHP family members. If someone tries to use the 11-99 Foundation to get out of a traffic ticket, he will be summarily dismissed from the organization. Indeed, it is a terrific charitable organization. Our family has been involved and supporters to the 11-99 Foundation since its’ inception in 1983. Our commitment is and has been based upon the incredible impact it has had on families of the California Highway Patrol over these years. And, we have seen and felt the gratitude of family members, when we have provided death and disability benefits.

I have been an 1199 lifetime member for 8 years now. On Aug 21, 2020 my truck ran out of fuel on the Hwy 8 east 2 miles west of sidewinder rd (broken gauge). Within 15 minutes a CHP Officer pulled up behind us to make sure we were ok. It was 100° outside and he wanted to make sure the kids were going to be alright in the heat. I said we would be fine then he asked if it was OK to stay behind us with his lights on to make sure traffic was moving over. I told him I would really appreciate that, so he waited for nearly 1 hour until the tow truck arrived with fuel and we were back up and running. My deepest appreciation to that man for keeping my family safe.

In 2008 my husband, an officer with the CHP, was diagnosed with brain cancer. We went from 2 incomes to 1 income because I needed to stay home and take care of him. He was able to keep his regular pay but we lost almost 30 percent of our income overnight. The 11-99 foundation helped us then and then again when my husband died in 2010. They even gave our youngest son 2 small scholarships to help him with college. They helped us through a very difficult time.
CHP 11-99 Foundation is responsible for, we as grandparents raising a granddaughter ,to watch her graduate in Dec with her BSN debt free!!! She will go on to contribute to society in a big way due to the help and confidence they have shown in her!!!!

In 2018 my 12 year old daughter donated a little over $1500 to the 11-99 Foundation. She is a 4-H member and every year raises two Market Hogs to be sold. She keeps the majority of the profits, if any, in a college savings account and the rest rolls over to expense the next project. With the tragedy of losing several officers in just a few months she decided to use her money from the previous project to completely fund the next and then donated her entire sale check to the 11-99. She believed that even if the amount wasn’t enough to pay for a funeral, or a year of college for a fallen officers child...it would however take a small burden off a wife and mother during a time of sadness. It might help pay their mortgage, put food on their table, maybe buy Christmas Presents for other children like her. We drove 5 hours to hand deliver the money to the 11-99 Foundation. I have never, ever, met people with such passion, desire and out right dedication to their mission then those on the staff of the 11-99. They were beyond thankful and even though it wasn’t a five or ten thousand dollar donation, her$1,500 meant just the same to them. They praised her and told her how thankful they were for her kind heart and donation. They went as far as to call me later that evening to make sure we made it home okay.
I left there feeling like we mattered. We were appreciated. I have never given a donation that was accepted with whole hearts like this one. My daughter will forever remember this moment and therefore will forever be a donor to CHP 11-99 Foundation. They truly are one of a kind.
CHP11-99 has had a profound impact on our lives. We have had a few family friend receive support during a difficult time and the 11-99 foundation was there right from the beginning.
Personally, the 11-99 foundation has supported our daughter as she works her way through college. She has received 2 scholarships and the 11-99 foundation has been thoughtful for both recipients and donors. College scholarship recipients are encouraged to write thank you notes to donors that sponsor them giving each donor and recipient a personal connection to the foundation.

My husband died in the line of duty 17 years ago. This foundation was a godsend, as I was left as the single parent of a two year old. They were there during the most difficult time of my life. The organization is still there for my daughter who is now in college. She applied for and received an extremely generous scholarship to help her pay for college. She will live the rest of her life with a hole in her heart, where her father used to be, but she will always remember the support and generosity of the 11-99 foundation.

I attended the Bob Weinberg Golf Tournament in 9/19 and I was so impressed with the organizers, guests and the participants! All showed a level of dedication that was mouth dropping! The organizer and their staff anticipated every need the participants might have in advance, the dinner was delicious, the entertainment with Rita Rudner was hilarious and the auctioneer Shawn Parr was engaging and caught all of us up in the auction, raising thousands of dollars! It was a really special day!

For the past 36 years, the CHP 11-99 Foundation has helped provide emergency benefits to the families of officers killed in the line of duty as well as officers injured while helping to protect the citizens of California.
Along with these vital services, the CHP 11-99 Foundation also provides education scholarships to dependents of all CHP employees, uniformed and non-uniformed.
The CHP 11-99 Foundation is our personal favorite 501(c) 3 Status Non-Profit Organization to donate to because since 1982 they have provided over $34 million in death benefits and scholarships to CHP families in need.
My husband is a Retired Lt. Commander of 31 years in the California Highway Patrol, it was all my husband ever aspired to be but as the years passed--the job changed, it became more dangerous and for families who lose a major bread earner, it can be even more devastating. We have met countless beneficiaries over the years whose lives were positively impacted by the 11-99's endeavors.
They're the most pro-active nonprofit we've ever witnessed in action!

In 1993 my radiator blew on a dark stretch of freeway in Los Angeles, it was a traumatic situation and out of nowhere a CHP motorcyclist showed up! My car died, going uphill, in the on ramp with a truck barreling down on me and smoke billowing out from under my hood-I couldn’t open my door on the left…and I couldn’t jump out on the right. This man’s actions were heroic and I’m a 100% sure I’m here today because he was there at that exact moment!
In 2001 I met a Lieutenant for the CHP and we married in 2003. We’ve been to a lot of holiday parties, retirement parties, birthday parties, graduations and then some, but it’s the funeral’s you never forget. You can’t go to a funeral and not want to help.
Through my husband’s encouragement and support of the CHP 11-99 I got to meet Rebecca Centner and we’ve been volunteering and donating ever since. There is a history, a culture and a love of family binding the ties within the framework of this nonprofit, unlike any I’ve ever experienced. What a visionary Bob Weinberg was!
The children who lose a parent within a CHP family lose so much and they need a light. The CHP 11-99 Foundation is truly that light! They have honored the giving spirit and dedication of the CHP officers who have served and they set an example for how to pay it forward. The scholarships they provide foster careers in a vast range of fields. The ripple effect of education is priceless as well as the confidences shaped by the opportunity to achieve higher aspirations.
No matter what the need is, the CHP 11-99 Foundation’s devotion to be there when it really counts is remarkable and I can’t think of a nonprofit that does more to make a difference in the lives of the people who make our state highways and communities a safer place than a nonprofit that serves the families of the California Highway Patrol.
I am so proud to be a volunteer of the CHP 11-99 Foundation. This is my second year volunteering at one of the many golf tournaments raising funds to support Law Enforcement and their families. The events were well run with professional and friendly people. Their dedication and commitment was astounding! It was such a pleasure interacting and meeting with many of the sponsorors and guests. Truly a warm, generous and gracious group!
The CHP 11-99 foundation provided me with two separate scholarships while pursuing my Associate Degree of Nursing and later my Bachelors degree. My experiences in applying for these scholarships were both simple and straightforward and the money they provided allowed me to pursue the education needed for my current career. The Foundation is nothing short of an excellent organization and works incredibly well in serving the family members of CHP officers.
Our son Bennet was born in 2012 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Bennet has had 3 open heart surgeries to change the plumbing of his heart to function on a single ventricle. Bennet has been in therapy his whole life as well. He is now in kindergarten and thriving. The 1199 foundation has been there by our side through this all, supporting us financially, wether it be for medical bills or during the long hospital stays.
The CHP-1199 foundation has been there for us in some of our darkest times. In 2012 our son was born with a severe heart defect requiring a series of surgeries and other treatments. As the difficult road continued before us, They supported us emotionally and financially when we were desperate and broken. We are forever thankful for them!!
This is a wonderful organization with a mission that spans all of CA. The management team is skilled and very efficient, they have a wonderful and active board, and the membership base is a wonderful mix of people that make up the CA demographic. The organizations financials are strong and continue to build off of prudent management by the board and management team.
My father is a life member of the organization and you can tell that anyone involved has a passion for helping out the families of CHP officers throughout the state.
The 11-99 Foundation made my dream of attending Yale University a reality. Because of their generous support of my education, I was able to obtain my BA and leave Yale debt free! They continued to support my educational pursuits through two Masters degrees. I can honestly say that I would not be where I am today without their incredibly generous funding. I also appreciated the way the staff made an effort to get to know me and my specific dreams and aspirations. I actually kept in touch with one of the staff people for several years after starting school. I think it’s great that they not only offer scholarships to students, but host ceremonies to honor the students receiving those scholarships, and in turn, the officers in the lives of those students. I have been on several 11-99 event planning committees and have witnessed first hand the work of the 11-99 foundation. Their dedication and support of families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty is unprecedented. The scholarships given by the foundation in support of young adults aspirations towards higher education is outstanding. As a member of the California Highway Patrol I can't put into words how much the 11-99 foundation means to me and my department.

I have volunteered for the 11-99 foundation at a number of their fundraising events over the past 30 years. I was a Real Estate Agent seven years ago and one of my clients, a single mother with two teenagers, is a CHP Dispatcher/ Supervisor. I told her of my involvement with the Foundation and she shared stories how the Foundation had helped co-workers. The following years this client/CHP employee has volunteered at fundraising events. When her daughter, then her son entered college 11-99 foundation began helping with their tuition. 11-99 foundation has made it possible for both her children to continue their studies toward graduation.

In 2005 my wife volunteered for the 11-99 Foundation golf tournament at Los Coyotes Country Club. It was her experience there that prompted me to become a volunteer as well. I was an active CHP officer at the time and it was my involvement with the 11-99 Foundation that has led me to volunteer every year since. in July 2016 I suffered three Strokes in one week. I had seen all the wonderful things the foundation does but it wasn't until my Strokes that I realized what a close family we all are. Although there weren't any specific services for retired officers they were right there to offer help and support. thank you Manny Padilla, Rebecca Centner Brianna Esquivel and Foundation staff in Fountain Valley. I hope to be back on the course volunteering in 2018.
As the spouse of a 27 year CHP veteran, it is reassuring to know that the CHP 11-99 Foundation exists to support officers and their families. Whether in times of crisis, such as supporting the family of a fallen officer, or through the on-going support of programs like the 11-99 Scholarship program, the CHP 11-99 Foundation works diligently to support those who have dedicated their lives to serving others as law enforcement officers.
The Foundation provides a vital role, one that is not provided by the CHP department itself. Without the foundation, many families would struggle financially during times of death, illness etc. Thank you CHP 11-99 Foundation for the work you do!!

The Chp 11-99 Foundation is one of the most amazing nonprofits I know of. I have been a volunteer at their fundraising events for over 20 years and each time I am thrilled to help them out. The work and help they do for CHP officers and their families is wonderful and generous and so needed. Everyone involved is friendly, polite, hard-working and they all are dedicated to making sure that all the monies made goes directly to the officers and families. The foundation is truly an inspiration.
Received a scholarship for my son to attend college. It is the only scholarship he was awarded after applying to many different scholarship offers. We are so thankful for the award and it has helped him to be debt free for this school year.
The 11-99 Foundation has been wonderful and supportive to our family. In 1995 my CHP husband was shot and bludgeoned on a freeway stop to assist a pedestrian. Three off - duty LEO'S stopped the assault and called for aid. My husband survived the assault and the 11-99 Foundation was immediately there for our family. We felt so cared for. Now our children are in college and have been recipients of scholarships provided by this wonderful, caring, and supportive organization. An A+ organization that provides an outstanding service!
My father was a Sergeant with the Highway Patrol when I applied to colleges. I was awarded three scholarships which was extremely helpful. I owe my degree to their organization. I have also seen first hand how they have helped the families of officers that were seriously hurt or killed. From providing vehicles, resources and support, I will always be grateful. The 11-99 Foundation has been and will continue to be a large part of my life. I was generously awarded four financial scholarships that allowed me to pursue my dream of attending the University of Colorado at Boulder. Out-of-state tuition is a tough burden... but the Foundation made it possible. This organization gave me the support I needed to earn my B.A. in Environmental Science, which led me to become the Broadcast Meteorologist I am today. I also spent time volunteering for the organization, helping put on a local golf tournament in efforts to raise money for the families the Foundation serves. The 11-99 Foundation has made a lasting, positive impact on my life and I could not be more thankful for their support.
The 11-99 Foundation has generously given my two sons scholarships to attend college. Both of my sons are trying to make it through college without student debt and the scholarships have covered tuition for one semester for each, greatly helping them to achieve that goal. The Foundation gives to the families of those who serve the people of California.

Our daughter applied and was granted a scholarship. She is an excellent student, and will make the foundation proud. She has chosen to go into the field of Veterinary medicine, and so has eight years of college and professional school ahead of her. This is a big blessing and a help for her. When my brother was killed in the line of duty, the 11-99 foundation stepped right in and helped my sister-in-law and my nieces. They have been extremely helpful and supportive at all times. Without a doubt, a top-notch organization. We never thought that we would ever need help, but I am so thankful to the 11-99 organization was there in our time of need.
For the past 24 years, I have been witness to the 11 99 Foundation's generosity toward the families of fallen officers of the CHP. When an officer makes the ultimate sacrifice and is killed in the line of duty, the 11 99 Foundations has stepped up instantaneously helping the family with financial aid.

Since I was a child I have known of the 11-99 Foundation. My father is a life member and during our time as a family in Orange County I was able to attend a few functions as a guest of my father. Falling into the similar career path as my father, I am able to donate both time and money to help this organization as much as I can.
I recently volunteered to help with the annual golf tournament that the foundation runs and they put together quite an event. Many of the members of the committee have been helping to organize the event for over 20 years and it shows. The event went smoothly with quality silent auction / live auction gifts, a wonderful MC, entertainment for the event and great food.
This was my first go round for the event and I wanted to see how things were run. I have been a part of many golf tournaments in my years and this...by far...is one of the best run and organized events I get to participate in every year.
For those reading this who don't know, the organization helps families of CHP Officers killed in the line of duty. This support comes in the form of scholarships and other death benefits to help those families of downed officer cope with the loss and the uncertain financial future. One of the most touching parts of the golf tournament is when a son or daughter of a downed officer speaks and talks about how the support of the organization and its members has really made a impact in their lives...to help them achieve something that was tough to fathom during or after the loss of a loved one.
I am truly blessed to be able to support an organization such as this.
I really cannot say enough good things about the 11-99 foundation! They came along side our family in the deepest darkest moments we have ever faced. They gave us relief and hope and we are eternally grateful.
Our son was 1 day old when he was diagnosed with being born with HLHS. Essentially, he only has half a heart. Our world was totally tipped upside down. With two older children to care for and a baby that would be needing multiple surgeries in his first months of life, we felt completely scared a lost. 11-99 stepped in and gave us the support we needed so that we were able to focus on our medically ill son and continue to provide for our family. We have been beyond blessed by this organization.
As a car enthusiast, I attend a number of car shows and have for many years. Until recently, I had not been aware of the 1199 Foundation. I have heard Mr. Harrington, who I understand is a recent CEO and CHP Family members speak at several car events recently. Their messages are heart warming and powerful. It is a pleasure to see a need (care of families of disabled or fallen CHP officers) cared for and protected in the aftermath of tragedies.
Having discovered this organization, I have looked into the management and directors associated with this organization. The quality,calibre and professionalism of the people involved with this organization are just "off the charts" good.
I don't have bundles to donate to charity but this is a non profit to which I will gladly donate both time and money.

The Foundation's commitment to helping those who have served our communities is so important to those families who have lost loved ones. Together, they pull out all the stops to produce exceptional, top-notch fund-raising events throughout California. Because they have helped so many, all of these events are run by grateful volunteers. The synergy of all these "hearts" beating together has made this non-profit soar to new heights, year by year. I am proud to be a part of the CHP 11-99 Foundation.
My wife and I have raised our children to understand that, in our small town, they represent not only our family but the CHP family as well. They have grown into fine adults. All three ate going to colleges around the country. About two years ago I retired after I was hit by a car. The scholarships the 11-99 Foundation have provided have really made a difference. We can't thank 11-99 enough!
I began my career with CHP in 1988 and recently retired as a Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor, which included supervising a 9-1-1 call center and officer radio responsibilities. In 1992, my husband died and I became a single mother of 4, sole support of my children. The 11-99 Foundation provided scholarships for my children as they qualified and then attended college, and even graduate school.
In 1993, my oldest son was killed in a traffic accident at only 21 years of age, another tragedy for our family. I was devastated. The foundation generously provided the burial funds to help relieve our burden. I am proud to say that my other children have grown to be successful and benevolent adult citizens, plus I'm now the grandmother of 4 amazing kids.
Throughout my career, I also worked with several officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice, dying in the line of duty. The 11-99 Foundation always generously supported the families, helping relieve their financial burden. It's a great organization, and I will always be grateful for their kind help in our family's time of need.
The CHP-1199 Foundation has helped all three of my sons with college scholarships. They are all high-achieving students, but there are only scholarships out there for a very few, selective groups. I am so thankful to the 1199 Foundation for supporting them and their educations. The CHP saves lives - literally and figuratively!
The Foundation has provided financial support to the families of fallen Highway patrol officers. These officers protect us and patrol the thousands of miles of freeway. Sometimes without Thanks.
