Causes: Children & Youth, Youth Development Programs

Mission: To empower children and families to be self-sustaining through education, training, mentoring and service.

Programs: The summer youth educational program exposed, educated & encouraged 165 disadvantaged/underserved children & youth to steam related fields. The program inspired science, technology, engineering, arts, and math learning in children & youth through hands-on exploration and reflection. 82% of the children & youth involved in the 10 week program gained a deeper understand on steam content, and developed an interest in steam related fields. Through weekly educational field trips, children learn innovators, scientist, artist, technologist, & engineers are contributors to the well-being of the community. This program provided 41,250 hours of steam education, 7,425 hours of physical fitness, and 6,600 hours of mentoring. We provided 16,500 healthy meals 4,125 healthy meals selected and prepared by students through our international cultural arts class. Volunteer hours served 2,040. Parent volunteer hours served 312.

the food pantry programs alleviates hunger and provide supplemental food assistance to families in need. We provided 332,400 pounds of food over 12 months period to 1,121 families. Decreased the number of people suffering from food insecurities and developed healthy eating habits to 2,617 individuals. Remove the barrier of healthy food options by providing 103,018 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. This program also provided 350 thanksgiving baskets to families during the holiday season. Volunteer hours served 4,828.

c-mint after-school tutoring & mentoring program: provides affordable after school programming for students k5 through 8th grade, with an emphasis on academics and enrichment. Provided 112 parents with an alternative for latch key children in a safe & fun environment with a wide range of opportunities for learning. Provided an atmosphere that developed academic, social, physical, & emotional skills to 65 children, while giving them the chance to develop hobbies, skills, & interest they might not otherwise be able to explore. Provided 14,040 hours of tutoring & homework assistance. Built mastery towards teks by providing each student with 108 hours of staar test practice. 50 students participated in 3,600 hours of mentoring. 25 students participated in extended mentoring program. 20 students participated in a community service projects which helped cultivate the students positive character traits, & enhance their sense of community. This project, christmas candyland, provided 438 children with 4,339 toys during the holiday season. 25 children with behavioral and truancy issues participated in our alternative, re-directive boxing program. This program developed a pipeline of leaders and improved youth adult relationship. This program operates during the 2015 - 2016 school year. 11,340 meals served during out of school time to children ages 5-13. Volunteer hours served 1,620.
