As a donor of this organization for the past two years, I have had the opportunity to experience CMP's programs, partner with their staff and Board and also gain a true understanding of the good work they do for the community. Their wide range of job training and employment placement programs provide the necessary skills to equip folks in the workplace. This organization has been helping nearly 90,000 people to get on their feet as contributing members of society since 1972 and I'm proud to be supporting their mission to help individuals advance in their careers and become self-sufficient.

boardmember Board Member

Rating: 1

This Board routinely violates best governance practices and its own by-laws. There are no term limits so some members have been on the board for over 10 years. Board Chair hires and consult staff and without notifying its Executive Director. Committees do not meet regularly nor do they perform any real committee activities. The Board is controlled by the Chair who manages out the Board of members who disagree with him and the Executive Committee. There are few to no women on the board. There is a long history of financial mismanagement with this board and the board is kept small to retain control and voting power of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is made up of the same core board members who occasionally rotate roles. There is a large amount of reserve monies from 9-11 funds at stake.

Working in Chinatown Manpower Project for a few weeks. I think this organization is valuable. First, this organization is helping many business in many aspects, providing American Businesses with Productive Employees. And teaching many employment skills. And they provide many kinds of courses to people in need. It's a meaningful job and task.
