Mission: To engage the minds, muscles and imaginations of children and the grown-ups who care about them. The museum fulfills this mission by providing engaging projects, exhibits and programming for young children and their families; educating parents and caregivers about child development and parenting techniques; building cultural understanding, positive social interaction and celebrating diversity; and, acting as a gateway to other cultural institutions and community programs.
Programs: The children's museum of phoenix engages the minds, muscles, and imaginations of children and the grown-ups who care about them. With a focus on early childhood education and development for children birth to ten years, the museum provides hands-on exhibits and programs that that encourage physical, emotional and cognitive development. To ensure that all children in our community have the opportunity to visit the museum, our "every child" program provides free or reduced admission to over 50,000 children and families a year. In addition to over 60 hands-on experiential exhibits, the art studio provides open-ended art exploration for over 250,000 visitors that includes painting, clay, crafts, and a multi-media art "maker" space incorporating recycled materials. Additionally, over a 100,000 children take part in our programs including cooking and nutrition classes in our kidchen, steam activities in our children's garden, and other programs including rockets, braintime, music together, yoga, kith & kin, raising a reader, vision screenings, numeracy, science, and literacy programs.
